HIG Capital is to sell its existing stake in Surgery Partners to Bain Capital Private Equity.
In conjunction with the transaction, Surgery Partners and National Surgical Healthcare (NSH), an owner and operator of surgical facilities in partnership with local physicians, have entered into a definitive merger agreement under which Surgery Partners will acquire NSH from Irving Place Capital for approximately USD760 million.
Funding for the transaction will be provided in part by Bain Capital Private Equity, who is injecting capital in exchange for preferred equity in the company.

Agilitas, a pan-European mid-market private equity firm, has made several strategic bolt-on acquisitions to its portfolio company Recover Nordic, a provider of damage control, emergency response and environmental services.
In Sweden, where Recover Nordic operates under the Relita brand, the business has acquired 100 per cent of three businesses: Guja Riv & Håltagning AB; Rena Avlopp i Sverige AB; and Kungsbacka All & Spolservice AB.
The acquisition of Guja, combined with that of Rena Avlopp, significantly expands the company’s presence in Örebro and Stockholm. The addition of Kungsbacka also improves Recover Nordic’s reach in Southern Sweden.

Accenture has acquired Media Hive, an e-commerce solutions provider with expertise in cross-channel commerce strategy, custom application development and the creation of innovative retail experiences for any device.

Mourant Ozannes’ investment funds team has established the first five Jersey Private Funds (JPF) since the new regime came into effect last month.
Introduced by the Jersey Financial Services Commission, the new JPF product has been designed to rationalise and consolidate Jersey’s private fund regimes for funds offered to up to 50 professional investors.

Perusa Partners Fund 2, an investment fund advised by Perusa, has acquired German steak house chain Maredo from GEP III, an investment fund advised by ECM Equity Capital Management.
Both companies jointly announced the transaction on 11 May. Transaction details were not disclosed.
Maredo operates 46 restaurants with about 1,500 employees. The gastronomy concept and the Maredo brand have been modernised in recent years, focusing on the positioning on steak as a core product. Omnes Capital has launched a new FPCI (Fonds Commun de Placement dans l’Innovation) mutual fund investing in innovative companies – Capital Invest PME 2017.
The fund will allow individuals to benefit from tax advantages provided for by the French TEPA law in respect of ISF wealth tax (impôt de solidarité sur la fortune) and income tax, while also benefiting from the growth potential of French and European SMEs.

Oakley Capital Investments’ Oakley Capital Private Equity III has reached an agreement to acquire a majority stake in TechInsights.
Fund III is expected to invest USD49.9 million in the business and will invest alongside Henry Elkington, the CEO of the current parent company (AXIO), who brings extensive experience in the industry and will become chairman of TechInsights at completion.
The company’s indirect contribution through its interest in Fund III is expected to be approximately GBP18.2 million.

The Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) has introduced a risk-proportionate regulatory framework for managers of venture capital (VC) funds, the first of its type in the MENA region.
With immediate effect on 15 May 2017, VC managers will not be subject to any base capital requirement or expenditure based capital.
In close consultation with industry players, the tailored regulatory framework for VC managers simplifies the applicable regulatory requirements while maintaining the necessary safeguards to ensure that they operate in a safe and sound manner.

Private equity trade association Invest Europe has published its 2016 European Private Equity Activity report revealing that fundraising for investment into companies across Europe hit its highest level since 2008 last year at EUR74.5 billion, a 37 per cent year-on-year increase.
The report reveals private equity investments totalled EUR53.7 billion last year, the second highest amount since 2008. Almost 6,000 companies across Europe benefited from investment, 83 per cent of which were small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Exit activity remained robust at EUR38.9 billion, divested at cost.
