Law firm Howard Kennedy is acting for Octopus Apollo VCT on the issue of its 2017 prospectus and on its proposed merger with Octopus Eclipse VCT.
Its 2017 issue will see Octopus Apollo VCT target a fundraise of GBP20 million.
The proposed merger with Octopus Eclipse VCT will bring efficiencies in the annual running and administration costs whilst enabling it to spread portfolio risks across a broader range of investments.

Following the acquisition of an equity interest and a capital increase in December 2013, Activa Capital and Paluel-Marmont Capital have been accompanying the development of Gaz Européen as shareholders alongside the founders (majority shareholders) and the management.

Financial technology group ayondo has acquired the TradeHero brand, a Singapore investor education app that has been ranked the number one Apple iOS finance app in over 90 countries.
The acquisition for TradeHero’s brand outside of China and the US, further expands ayondo’s footprint in Singapore nearly a year after it announced a partnership with KGI Fraser Securities to launch KGI Contrax, a platform for investors to trade Contracts for Difference (CFD).

Perella Weinberg Partners (PWP) and Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co (TPH) are to planning to merge their two businesses with the combined firm adopting the Perella Weinberg Partners name.
TPH’s energy practice will continue to operate as Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co.
Subject to customary conditions, the transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2016. Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed although PWP’s founding investors will remain shareholders in the combined company, with some providing additional growth capital.

Law firm Paul Hastings has represented Samsung Electronics in its USD8 billion acquisition of Harman International Industries.
Harman provides connected car solutions, with more than 30 million vehicles currently equipped with its connected car and audio systems, including embedded infotainment, telematics, connected safety, and security.
Through the acquisition, Samsung will add Harman’s experience designing and integrating sophisticated in-vehicle technologies, and position itself to leverage Harman’s long-term relationships with most of the world’s largest automakers, creating growth opportunities for the combined business.
The transaction is Samsung’s largest-ever acquisition, and is the largest Korean outbound M&A transaction on record.
OFF3R, the marketplace for alternative investments, has launched an independent index outlining month-on-month performances of equity crowdfunding and peer-to-peer (P2P) lending platforms over the last year.
OFF3R analysed major equity crowdfunding platforms including Seedrs, Crowdcube, Syndicate Room, Angels Den, Envestors and The House Crowd. The P2P lending platforms examined were Zopa, Landbay, RateSetter, ArchOver, Marketinvoice, Lending Works, Funding Circle and Thin Cats.
The index shows that equity crowdfunding raised a combined total of GBP216.25 million and P2P facilitated a combined lending of GBP2.6 billion.

The funds covered by ImpactBase have a combined USD31.2 billion in committed AUM. Funds with a track record of three years or greater represented almost 40 percent of the funds on ImpactBase and 75 per cent of capital commitments.

The Edmond de Rothschild Equity Strategies (ERES) franchise has held the final closing of ERES III at its hard cap of EUR300 million.
This is the highest amount ever raised by the ERES franchise.
Its 2011 vintage, ERES II, raised EUR217 million.
Limited partners include high net worth individuals as well as financial institutions both in France and internationally, especially Asia.
ERES will continue its strategy of investing as a minority shareholder in support of majority partners in private mid-cap companies, with an enterprise value between EUR100 million and EUR2 billion.
