City Capital Ventures, a private investment partnership headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, has acquired a majority stake in Diedrich Roasters (Diedrich) of Ponderay, Idaho.  The Company will continue to operate independently under the leadership of current CEO Michael Paquin and his team. Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. B Riley Financial, a provider of financial and business advisory services, has signed a definitive agreement and plan of merger to acquire United Online, a provider of consumer services and products over the Internet, for USD11.00 per share, or approximately USD170 million.  The consideration represents approximately USD48 million in cash consideration from B Riley Financial after taking into account the projected United Online cash balance at closing.  United Online's Communications segment features the Internet access brands, NetZero and Juno, which offer a range of high-quality, low-priced dial-up and DSL Internet access services. Australian investment manager, QIC has signed an agreement to acquire an 80 per cent interest in the North Australian Pastoral Company (NAP), one of Australia’s oldest and largest agricultural enterprises. NAP covers 5.8 million hectares across Queensland and the Northern Territory and approximately 178,000 head of cattle.   At the conclusion of the transaction, NAP’s largest shareholder, the Foster family will retain an interest in NAP of approximately 20 per cent. Via, an on-demand transit company, is raising USD100 million in Series C funding, having closed USD70 million, with USD30 million in strategic investment to close in the coming weeks.  The funding was led by Pitango Growth, who were joined by leading venture capital firms, family offices, and strategic investors from North America, Europe, and Asia, including Poalim Capital Markets and C4 Ventures. Previous investors Ervington Investments (representing Roman Abramovich), Hearst Ventures, and 83North (formerly Greylock IL) also participated. NVM Private Equity (NVM) has led the recent fundraising round for Manchester based software company MPD Group. NVM has invested GBP2.5 million which will enable the business to continue to develop and deploy their new, disruptive Electio SaaS product.  Electio is a delivery management platform enabling retailers to rapidly increase the number of delivery options they offer to their customers. Law firm Howard Kennedy has advised Cenkos Securities on the GBP3.2 million fund raising by the AIM traded company, MedaPhor Group plc. This secondary fund raising was effected via a share placing, with Cenkos acting as Nomad and Broker to MedaPhor Group plc. MedaPhor Group plc is a global provider of world leading ultrasound training simulators for medical professionals.  The fundraising follows a three-year agreement between MedaPhor Group plc and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynaecology to use its ultrasound simulator within its obstetrics and gynaecology exams. Funds advised by CVC Capital Partners have completed the sale of Education International Corporation (EIC) to a consortium led by NLD Investment (NLD), a Chinese private equity fund, in partnership with the management and the founder of EIC.  Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.   EIC is China’s largest overseas educational counselling service provider, with a 13 per cent national market share.
