Standard & Poor's Ratings Services (S&P) has published its first annual league table for private placement deals in Europe, created in collaboration with Private Placement Monitor (PPM). The table shows that almost EUR7 billion was raised in private capital for European companies in the last year, through 87 deals. Weekly Brief: Spike in Oil spawns moderate loss
Last week US Treasury bond and German bund yields spiked, both hitting a new 2015 high. On Thursday, 10-year German rates reached 1.0% before losing ground later in the day. Intraday volatility reached record highs and according to hedge fund managers, the main driver behind the moves in the fixed income markets is the lack of liquidity. Brandtone has successfully raised EUR18.5 million in debt and equity financing.  US-based Ares Capital Corporation is providing approximately EUR12 million, with existing Brandtone shareholders Unilever, Syngenta, Verlinvest and Vision Private Equity providing a further EUR6.5 million collectively in equity.   The new funding will be used as working capital to support Brandtone’s immediate expansion into South East Asia and further expansion in Africa and Latin America.    It will also support the company’s entry in to new sectors, including the agri-food and healthcare, and enable it to invest in the leadership and innovation necessary to ensure its offering continues to

Noerr has advised Alteri Investors on the financing of the Basler Fashion Group.  Alteri, a joint venture funded by the private equity fund Apollo specialising in debt and equity financing in the retail industry, provided Basler Fashion GmbH with a working capital loan. Basler was previously taken over by the financial investor Tempus Capital.   Tempus Capital acquired the shares in Basler from a two-way trust into which the shares had been contributed at the prompting of a banking consortium led by Commerzbank. Private equity investor AE Industrial Partners has signed an agreement to acquire Belcan Corporation (Belcan), an engineering services and technical staffing provider in the aerospace, power generation and industrial markets.  Terms of the transaction, which is expected to close by the third quarter of 2015, have not been disclosed. BelFlex Staffing Network, Belcan’s light industrial staffing subsidiary, is not included in the transaction.
