Latest figures released on Jersey’s finance industry show a steady performance including a small increase in banking deposits and signs that a change to fund regulation will support certain types of new funds business.
Banking deposits have reached their highest level since last summer and while there was a small fall in the value of funds, this has followed a period of consistent growth each quarter, so overall the economic picture is very stable. Kurma Partners (Kurma) has teamed up with Insitut Pasteur to launch its third fund Kurma Diagnostics (KDx), a venture capital fund Venture Capital fund dedicated to financing early-stage European innovative Diagnostic projects and companies.
The new fund supported by the European Investment Fund, Fonds National d’Amorçage, Institut Pasteur, and BNP Paribas, will benefit from the extensive network of European clinical and academic research institutes that has been cultivated over the past six years.

Aquila Capital has purchased a portfolio of six photovoltaic parks in France. The plants, which have a combined installed capacity of 57 MWp, are located in the Aquitaine region near Bordeaux and are connected to the grid.
The photovoltaic plants benefit from France’s 2011 feed-in tariff scheme and have secured a long-term feed-in tariff of 11.08 cents per kilowatt hour. Investments of this size in the established French photovoltaic market are rare. Lonsdale Capital Partners has acquired HVAC&R Limited (HVAC&R), a provider of heating, ventilation and air conditioning solutions to the oil and gas sector, in a GBP10.25 million deal and will integrate the company into its existing investment, Oteac.
Royal Bank of Scotland are the senior debt advisors on the deal.

The German private equity market is showing signs of a slight downturn after the buoyant mood experienced since last summer. Deteriorating financing conditions and business prospects mean that investors in the SME sector are increasingly joining the ranks of the sellers.
However, private equity professionals expect conditions to improve in the second half of the year, according to the findings of the latest private equity panel survey, which is conducted three times a year by CMS Germany and FINANCE magazine. Some 40 private equity (PE) firms provide anonymous assessments of the market for the survey.

An affiliate of Fortress Investment Group is to become co-manager with Mount Kellett Capital Management of the Mount Kellett investment funds and related accounts (the funds).

Baring Private Equity Asia is to acquire a majority stake in Vistra Group from IK Investment Partners’ IK 2007 Fund. The Vistra Group management team will continue to hold a significant shareholding in the Company after completion.
