Prism Medical, a manufacturer and provider of specialist mobility and handling equipment, has completed the acquisition of The Mobility Equipment Company (TMEC) for an undisclosed sum. The deal, which was transacted with support from leading mid-market private equity provider LDC, who invested in the GBP30million acquisition of Prism Medical in April 2014, forms part of the business’ on-going acquisitive growth strategy.  Prism Medical is the market leader in the provision of moving & handling solutions that enable the mobility disadvantaged to live at home in a safe and dignified manner, thereby helping to improve their quality of life. Over the past year, a total of 7,474 venture capital financings were announced globally with an aggregate value of USD86.6bn, according to Preqin. This represents an 11% fall in the number of financings taking place compared to 2013, but a 58% rise in the aggregate value of deals compared to the previous year. Private equity house Key Capital Partners (KCP) has exited its investment in Nurse Plus to a secondary MBO funded by Sovereign Capital (Sovereign) and led by Nurse Plus CEO Heath Blake and MD Pamela Bruce. Preqin Hedge Fund Spotlight November 2014
One of the inherent risks to investing in hedge funds is the inherent volatility of performance. A top fund today might be the worst tomorrow. In Preqin’s latest November Hedge Fund Spotlight report, which looks at this year’s top 100 performing hedge funds, only three funds feature on the list from 2013.  To qualify, only those funds with USD100m or more in AuM were considered. KKR has sold its remaining stake in Alliance Boots to Walgreens Boots Alliance following the exercise by Walgreens of the call option to acquire the remaining 55% of Alliance Boots as the second step of the overall transaction.  In August 2012, Walgreens acquired 45% of Alliance Boots in the first step of the overall transaction. Private equity investment firm Pamplona Capital Management is to acquire Charter NEX Films, subject to customary conditions, including expiration of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act.  The transaction is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2015. Dynavax Technologies Corporation has entered into a credit facility with Hercules Technology Growth Capital for up to USD40 million of total funding.  Dynavax drew the first tranche of USD10 million on closing and has access to an additional USD30 million in 2015, at Dynavax's option, if it achieves certain milestones relating to the ongoing Phase 3 study of HEPLISAV-B (HBV-23). Growthgate Capital has sold its 70 per cent stake in Able Logistics Group to Kerry Freight Services (South Asia), a wholly owned subsidiary of Kerry Logistics Network, for USD32 million.  Taking into account this transaction and prior dividends received, Growthgate Capital has realised a 3x return on its investment in Able. The Cordes Group of Bremerhaven has acquired the Rettenmeier Group, a wood-working firm based in the Bavarian town of Wilburgstetten.  The competition authorities have already approved the transaction. The purchase price has not been disclosed. A team from CMS Germany and Austria led by M&A lawyers Dr Jörg Lips and Dr Jochen Lux advised the seller on all legal aspects of the transaction. The latest entrant to the AIM market has become the first company in the UK to float after securing investment from both crowdfunding and institutional investors. The Mill Residential REIT – which has floated on AIM, the LSE’s international market for smaller companies – is Britain’s first mainstream residential REIT.
