The Central Africa Growth Sicar (CAGS) fund, managed by pan-African private equity firm Emerging Capital Partners (ECP), has exited its stake in Togo-based commercial banking holding company Oragroup.
The exit form Oragroup, which currently has operations spanning 12 countries in West and Central Africa, represents 2.2x return on CAGS’ initial investment.
CAGS achieved the divestment through sale of its stake to Gabon's Strategic Investment Fund (GSIF). The exit follows a five year holding period during which time CAGS provided development capital and strategic management expertise to support Oragroup’s growth ambitions. Dubai International Capital (DIC), the private equity arm of Dubai Holding, has signed an agreement for the sale of Mauser Group to Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) for circa USD1.7 billion.
Mauser, which was acquired by DIC in 2007 in a deal that valued the group at circa USD1.1 billion, is a producer of rigid industrial packaging with approximately 4,400 employees and consolidated revenues of over USD1.6 billion.

International investment firm Axon Partners Group has invested in iYogi, a specialist in on-demand tech support for consumers and small businesses, bringing the total raised so far in this Series E financing round to USD28 million.
Axon Partners Group, which has a strong presence in Spain and Latin America, has joined this round along with Madison India Capital and some existing investors, to support iYogi’s growth in these regions through partnerships with telecom companies.

Talis Capital’s portfolio company FuelQuest In has completed the sale of its subsidiary business Zytax to Avalara.
FuelQuest’s disposal of Zytax represents one of the first exits in the digital sector for Talis Capital investors.
Talis Capital, also the exclusive advisor to Beyond Digital, completed a USD10m Series A round for FuelQuest in 2012. Beyond Digital focuses on high growth technology companies, in areas such as financial technology, mobile, data analytics and cyber security.

Private equity firm Graphite Capital has sold Education Personnel, a provider of supply teachers and educational support staff to schools in England and Wales, to its management team in a buy-out backed by ICG.
Graphite originally backed the management buy-out of Teaching Personnel in 2010. The following year the business was merged with Protocol Education to form Education Personnel.
The combination has generated approximately 100 additional jobs at the company since the merger.
Education Personnel’s revenue has grown by approximately 60 per cent over the past four years. The number of branches has risen from 52 to 67 and
iZettle has closed a EUR40 million Series C funding round led by London-based growth investor Zouk Capital, with participation from Dawn Capital and Intel Capital.
Series A and B investors Creandum, Greylock Partners, Index Ventures, Northzone and SEB Private Equity also invested.
Investors in previous rounds included American Express, MasterCard and Banco Santander.
Nathan Medlock, a principal in Zouk’s growth capital team, will join the iZettle board.
iZettle will use the funding to continue growing in existing markets as well as identifying new potential territories for expansion.

Private investment firm Highlander Partners has sold its portfolio company, SensoryEffects, to Balchem Corporation, a publicly-traded human and animal health and wellness company.
The purchase price was USD567 million, before working capital and other adjustments.
The sale represents the culmination of eight years of collaboration and enterprise building between Highlander Partners and SensoryEffects' founder, chairman and CEO Charles A Nicolais and the management team he assembled.
Nicolais approached Highlander Partners nine years ago with a business plan he had developed to consolidate and professionalize certain segments of the food ingredient manufacturing industry.

DNV GL, a ship and offshore classification society and technical risk service provider, has acquired Marine Cybernetics, a specialist in third-party testing of computer control systems.
Marine Cybernetics was established in 2002 as a spin-off from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
Based in Trondheim, Norway, the company introduced the concept of Hardware-In-the Loop-Testing (HIL) to the maritime and offshore industries. HIL testing reduces the risk of accidents, off-hire costs and non-productive time due to software-related issues.
