Aquiline Capital Partners has made an investment, through affiliates, in Tourmalet Advisors, an alternative investment manager based in Fairfield, Connecticut.
Tourmalet, led by chief executive officer Michael Corasaniti, was founded in October 2009 and has a track record of managing, investing, structuring and trading distressed residential mortgage assets. The firm’s objective is to generate superior risk adjusted returns through the purchase, servicing and liquidation of distressed whole loans.

Qualcomm is to sell Omnitracs, its North and Latin American transportation and logistics business, to Vista Equity Partners, a US-based private equity firm.
Subject to the terms and conditions of the definitive agreement, Vista will purchase Omnitracs for USD800m in cash.

Keating Capital, a pre-IPO investor and business development company, has made an additional USD1m convertible note investment in SilkRoad, an existing portfolio company.
Keating Capital’s investment is part of a USD16m growth financing round completed by SilkRoad.
Other participants in the financing include Foundation Capital, Intel Capital, Azure Capital Partners and Crosslink Ventures.
SilkRoad intends to use the new funding to fuel ongoing product innovation across SilkRoad’s Life Suite talent management software to support company growth.

Private equity firm Thoma Bravo has completed its acquisition of Keynote Systems, a provider of internet and mobile cloud testing and monitoring, for USD20 per share or approximately USD395m.
With the transaction completed, Keynote’s stock will cease trading on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol KEYN.
Keynote will remain headquartered in San Mateo, California. In addition, retiring chief executive Umang Gupta will transition the CEO role to software and technology industry veteran Jennifer Tejada.

TagMan, a tag management system, marketing data and marketing attribution provider, has received USD5m in new funding.
Existing investors Greycroft Partners and iNovia Capital led the financing, and Silicon Valley Bank also injected capital.
TagMan plans to use the awarded funds to ramp up growth of its 300-strong global partnership programme STREAM, which was launched in October 2012 and to support the growth of the company’s customer base globally. STREAM offers its certified partners streamlined tag implementations, reliable real-time, tag enabled data collection and clean, cross-channel marketing data from an independent source. MicuRx Pharmaceuticals, a privately-held biopharmaceutical company developing next-generation antibiotics, has raised USD25m in series B financing.
Led by BVCF, a private equity and growth fund specialising in the life sciences industry, the round also includes existing investors Morningside Group and Devon Park Bioventures.
Proceeds from the series B financing will be used to fund the US development of MRX-I, a novel oral oxazolidinone antibiotic targeting infections due to multi-drug resistant Gram-positive bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE). Weixin Xu and Davis Yang of BVCF will join the MicuRx board of directors.

Private equity firm Levine Leichtman Capital Partners has partnered with management to complete a growth capital investment in Edison, New Jersey-based SFERRA Fine Linens.
SFERRA, founded in 1891, designs and produces branded, Italian luxury linen products of the highest quality for luxury retailers and hundreds of specialty boutiques. The company’s product offering consists of a wide assortment of bedding products which are complemented by a variety of table linens, bath items and decorative accessories.
SFERRA is the first investment from Levine Leichtman Capital Partners V.

European private equity firm Cinven has reached an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Heidelberger Leben, a provider of retirement and life insurance products in Germany.
Heidelberger Leben will become a consolidation platform for life insurance portfolios in Germany. It is being acquired from Lloyds Banking Group for a total consideration of around EUR300m.
Heidelberger Leben has a portfolio of around 600,000 policies, mainly unit-linked, and EUR5.2bn of assets as at 31 December 2012. It is headquartered in Heidelberg, Germany and employs around 300 people.

Funds advised or controlled by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) are acquiring a significant minority stake in RigNet from Cubera, an investment firm specialising in the Nordic private equity market.
Upon closing of the acquisition of 4.75 million shares, which is subject to customary approvals, KKR will become RigNet’s largest shareholder, holding a 27 per cent stake in the company.
