Middle-market private equity firm Wynnchurch Capital has sold 4Front Engineered Solutions to Assa Abloy.
Headquartered in Carrollton, Texas, 4Front is a manufacturer of loading dock equipment.
4Front’s products consist of mechanical, air-powered and hydraulic dock levellers, seals and shelters, trailer safety restraints, energy efficient HVLS fans, specialty dock doors, material handling lifts, and aftermarket parts and accessories. 4Front’s premier brands include Kelley, LoadHog, Serco, TKO and APS Resource.
Wynnchurch partnered with company management in October 2006 to purchase the business in a corporate carve-out from SPX Corporation. 4Front was an underperforming business when Wynnchurch purchased it in 2006. In partnership
European private equity firm AXA Private Equity is to sell its holding in Phönix/Strack Group to the Curtiss-Wright Corporation for EUR82m.
Phönix/Strack specialises in the development and production of custom-built high-performance valves for major players in the energy, chemicals and refinery industries.
Final closure of the transaction is subject to approval by the antitrust authorities.
Phönix/Strack is based in Volkmarsen, near Kassel in central Germany, and has 282 employees.
AXA Private Equity took a majority holding in the business in 2010. Since then, Phönix/Strack has achieved double-digit growth and last year made revenues of approximately EUR50m.

Tongal, a social platform for marketers to produce creative video content, has secured a USD15m series B investment from private equity firm Insight Venture Partners.
Tongal plans to use the funding to accelerate the build-out of its community and to support plans for rapid expansion.
Tongal was founded in 2008 by Rob Salvatore, James DeJulio and Mark Burrell.

Private equity firm Behrman Capital’s portfolio company Pelican Products has acquired Minnesota Thermal Science (MTS), a provider of global temperature controlled transportation products.
Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
Based in Plymouth, Minnesota, MTS will become part of Pelican’s BioPharma division. Pelican now offers the most advanced temperature controlled packaging solutions available for the safe transport of pharmaceuticals, tissue, biologics, diagnostics, blood and other healthcare products.
In addition to Pelican BioPharma cases, which offer 140+ hours between 2.0 to 8.0C, customers will have access to the full suite of MTS products including the reusable Credo Cube, which
Intervale Capital, an energy-focused private equity firm, has made an equity investment in Aegis Chemical Solutions, an oilfield chemicals and water treatment business headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas.
Aegis provides oil and gas production chemicals and chlorine dioxide treatment services to customers in major oilfield markets, with a particular focus on the Permian Basin of West Texas and Southeastern New Mexico.
The transaction merges Aegis with Mid-Chem, a Midland, Texas-based production chemicals business, and positions Intervale as the majority owner of Aegis.

Altium, the international investment bank, has agreed a strategic partnership with US investment bank Petsky Prunier.
The alliance follows a selective screening process and offers Altium’s clients improved access to advisory services in North America.
Petsky Prunier’s areas of expertise mirror those covered by Altium. ScaleArc, a provider of database infrastructure software that simplifies the way database environments are deployed and managed, has secured USD12.3m in new funding from venture capital firms.
The round was led by Accel Ventures with participation from existing investors including Trinity Ventures and Nexus Ventures, from whom ScaleArc had previously raised USD5.33m in 2011.
The new funding will be used primarily to invest in sales and marketing to fuel ScaleArc’s global expansion in the multi-billion dollar Big Data market, as well as to maintain aggressive development of its product roadmap.

Main Street Capital has closed two transactions, including a new portfolio investment and the partial exit of an existing portfolio investment.
The new portfolio investment includes USD40.5m of invested capital in Quality Lease and Rental Holdings, the parent company of Quality Lease Service and Quality Lease Rental Service.
Main Street’s investment consists of USD38m in senior, secured term debt in Quality and a USD2.5m direct equity investment in Quality’s parent holding company. Prupim has confirmed the purchase of the 381-space Carlton Street Car Park, phase two of McLaren Life’s 275,000sq ft regeneration development at Dolphin Square in Weston-Super-Mare, for the sum of GBP9.5m.
The property is held on a 200-year lease from North Somerset District Council and is underlet to North Somerset District Council on a new 45-year lease.
The multi storey car park was constructed and operated by McLaren Life until it was leased to the council and acquired by Prupim.
Demolition of phase three has commenced and will see the development of over 200,000 sq ft of retail and leisure,
