The UK Infrastructure Bank has made its first private sector transaction, which will help catalyse a new GBP500 million fund with NextEnergy Capital that could double the amount of subsidy-free solar power in the UK.

Ferreira de Sá, a company backed by Sherpa Capital, has acquired Desistart, a Portuguese manufacturer and marketer of carpets for the luxury market, from its founders.
Founded by Henrique Ferreira and Rosa de Lurdes de Sousa Marques, Desistart has experienced fast growth in recent years thanks to the quality of its products and the entry into new markets, which has led it to double its sales since 2017, up to three million euros per year.

Industrial Opportunity Partners (IOP), an operations-focused private equity firm, has completed the sale of portfolio company Aarrowcast to Charter Manufacturing Company (Charter), a family-owned steel and iron manufacturing company.
The divestiture represents IOP’s seventh investment realisation from its USD275 million second fund, Industrial Opportunity Partners II, LP. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. IOP acquired Aarrowcast in August 2012.

CenterSquare Investment Management (CenterSquare), a global real assets manager, has made a USD35 million equity investment in Flagship Healthcare Trust (Flagship), a Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic focused medical office private REIT with over two million square feet of office space and 75 properties.

Development Partners International (DPI) portfolio company Dolidol has acquired African bedding and mattress supplier Mouka.
Lessen, a marketplace platform for the delivery of property services, has closed a USD170 million Series B funding round led by Fifth Wall with additional funding coming from Khosla Ventures, General Catalyst and Navitas Capital. The funding round sees the company valued at over USD1 billion.
The Series B funding announcement comes just five months after Lessen closed its Series A round, led by the same group of investors, bringing total capital invested to USD214 million. Proceeds from the current investment will be used to fund new technology products, support new field operations teams and facilitate market expansion.

Asterion Industrial Partners, an independent investment management firm focused on European infrastructure in the mid-market, has completed the squeeze-out procedure and acquisition of 100 per cent of Retelit, an independent operator of a network covering more than 15,000 km of fibre in Italy and provider of ICT services.
Rockit Pest, a portfolio company of private equity firm Halle Capital, has acquired Home Pest Control (HPC), a provider of pest control services in South Carolina.
The acquisition is consistent with Rockit’s strategy of identifying and investing in pest control businesses that are poised for long-term growth in both South Carolina and the greater southeast region.
