Ironwood Capital has exited its investment in Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS), a privately held waste and recycling company servicing Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
LRS is led by industry veteran Alan Handley, CEO. Ironwood has extensive experience in the environmental services industry, completing more than a dozen platform investments in the waste management vertical.

GroVentive has completed a successful investment in Coastr, a Scottish technology startup, which enables car hire firms to become fully digitalised via a cloud-based “all-in-one” vehicle rental management platform delivering keyless entry, remote vehicle immobilisation, and real-time fleet monitoring.
The Edinburgh-based company plans to launch additional products into the market in 2022 such as on-demand fleet insurance, integrated vehicle financing and connectivity to market aggregators and booking platforms.
It has partnerships in place with Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) and existing customers include UK van rental company Herd Hire Group. Industry partners include Stripe, Sage, and Elavon. The company also plans
Granite Creek Capital Partners, a private investment firm based in Chicago, has partnered with Equivu Capital (Equivu) on an investment in C&C Manufacturing (C&C), a manufacturer and distributor of heavy equipment, providing high-quality machinery to the scrap metal recycling, waste management, and airport maintenance equipment markets alongside a suite of aftermarket replacement parts and value-added services.
As part of the transaction, Equivu, the investment arm of entrepreneur Salvatore Calvino, has acquired a majority stake in C&C. In addition, Calvino was named CEO of C&C Manufacturing.

Atlanta-based private equity firm Eagle Merchant Partners (Eagle) has acquired Code Ninjas, a global coding franchise system for children.
The announcement follows a minority investment made last year. Code Ninjas was founded in 2016 and currently has 345 locations in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Doconomy has announced a USD17 million investment round bringing the total invested in the firm since the start of 2018 to USD24 million.
This funding will accelerate Doconomy’s continued expansion and support the further development of its impact applied portfolio; enabling impact calculations on transactions, lifestyle, products and companies of all shapes and sizes. The funding will also be used to recruit new hires to join Doconomy’s growing team.

Existing shareholders Bpifrance (Large Venture), Condé Nast, Eurazeo, certain funds managed by Fidelity International and Korelya Capital (backed by NAVER) are reinvesting.

CoinFund, a crypto and blockchain investment firm, has appointed David Pakman as Managing Partner focused on expanding the firm’s growth-stage venture capital initiatives.
Pakman comes to CoinFund after 13 years with Venrock, a venture firm focused on investing in emerging technologies. cheqd – a start-up providing technology that could drive widespread uptake of digital IDs – has secured a USD2.6 million (GBP1.9 million) investment to support the launch of its product later this year.
The latest funding round was backed by Outlier Ventures, Evernym, TitanBlock, Torque, 3GR and a consortium of private investors. It follows their initial investment in March this year and brings the total raised by the company to USD3.3 million (GBP2.4 million).

Book Salon, a Finnish payment and booking service provider specialising in hair, beauty, and wellness companies, has closed a EUR1 million funding round led by Big Bets VC.
Sontek Ventures and well-known business angel Lennu Keinänen also participated in the round. The funding will be used to further expand its operations, and prepare for further growth in Europe as the company looks to expand its offering.
