Vienna-based logistics and warehousing start-up, Storebox, has just raised EUR52 million in a series B investment round.  The new investors are mostly international, and include Activum SG, Attila Balogh, Kineo Finance, n3K Holding, Senger-Weiss, Wicklow Capital and Wille Finance. Existing investors Romulus (Hansi Hansmann) and APIC Investments also participated in the round. Three Hills Capital Partners (THCP) is pleased to announce that its Three Hills Capital Solutions III (THCS III) portfolio company ACT, has agreed to a minority investment from Bridgepoint, which values the business at more than USD1.0 billion and replaces the existing stakes of THCP and its co-investors.  The transaction represents the first full exit for THCS III, of 2018 vintage. THCP and its co-investors originally invested in ACT, the provider of market-based solutions for reducing carbon footprints, in September 2018, having tracked the business since 2015. Ropes & Gray has advised WellSky Corporation – a portfolio company of TPG Capital and Leonard Green & Partners – on the sale of WellSky International to System C Healthcare, a provider of information technology implementation software and services to the health sector – and portfolio company of CVC Capital Partners.
The Riverside Company, a global private investor focused on the smaller end of the middle market, has invested in MDoutlook, a provider of precision intelligence solutions that help life sciences companies develop and commercialise therapeutics and diagnostics in oncology.  This is an add-on to Riverside’s Clinical Education Alliance, LLC (CEA) platform, a leading healthcare professional education and business intelligence platform. MDoutlook leverages its active and validated network of more than 140,000 global cancer clinicians, including 14,000 identified thought leaders, to power its data and analytics platform and related products. Qatar Holding, an affiliate of the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), is to invest USD200 million in Airtel Mobile Commerce BV (AMC BV), a subsidiary of Airtel Africa.  AMC BV is the holding company for several of Airtel Africa’s mobile money operations; and ultimately is intended to own and operate the mobile money businesses across all of Airtel Africa’s fourteen operating countries. The transaction values Airtel Africa’s mobile money business at USD2.65 billion on a cash and debt free basis. QIA will hold a minority stake in AMC BV upon completion of the Transaction (alongside other minority investors), with Airtel Africa
O’Melveny has advised Spectro Cloud, a next-generation Kubernetes enterprise management platform, in in the completion of a USD20 million Series A funding. The financing round was led by Stripes, a prominent investor in software and consumer products. Among investors funding the Series A raise were T-Mobile Ventures and Alter Venture Partners, as well as a number of backers from Spectro Cloud’s recent seed funding round. Ares SSG has held the final close of its third Secured Lending Opportunities Fund III (SLO III), with capital commitments of more than USD1.6 billion, which Ares believes makes it the largest pan-Asian secured lending fund to date. The close of SLO III marks the establishment of Ares SSG’s eighth fund and has attracted a top-tier, diverse set of international institutional investors, including sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and insurance companies. The final fund size represents an approximately 100 per cent increase compared to the predecessor fund, Secured Lending Opportunities Fund II, which closed in 2017 at just over USD800
Spanish private equity firm Portobello Capital has acquired a 100 per cent stake in Farmol, a leading contract manufacturer of aerosol and liquid branded products for Personal Care, Home Care, and Health Care in Europe. Founded in 1946 and based in Comun Nuovo (Italy), Farmol is one of the leading European players in aerosol formulation and filling. The company employs c.700 people and operates across six manufacturing facilities located in Italy, Hungary, Slovakia, and Tunisia, with approximately 500 million units of annual manufacturing capacity.
