Nordic Capital has held the first and final close of its first Evolution Fund at just over EUR1.2 billion (including GP commitment of 6.8 million per cent). Launched in April 2021 and raised in only three months, the Fund was substantially oversubscribed at its hard cap and significantly exceeded its target.
With the Evolution Fund, Nordic Capital will build on its long and successful investment experience in the mid-market, applying its value creation model to a broader size range of mid-market companies in its selected sectors and geographies, leveraging its own expertise and extensive expert networks.

Sandvik has signed an agreement with Battery Ventures to acquire US-based Cambrio, a company with an end-to-end portfolio in CAD/CAM software for manufacturing industries like automotive, transportation, energy, medical and aerospace.
“This is in line with our strategic focus to grow organically and through acquisitions in the advanced manufacturing space, with special focus on industrial software close to component manufacturing, industrial metrology- and additive manufacturing solutions. The Riverside Company, a global private investor focused on the smaller end of the middle market, has invested in Plumbing Heating Paramedics LLC (PHP).
The deal is an add-on investment to Riverside’s platform, Threshold Brands, a multi-brand franchisor of trade services concepts.
With plans to begin franchising the concept immediately, the acquisition also marks the company’s entry into plumbing and HVAC franchising. PHP represents the sixth company added to the Threshold Brands platform, which has more than 400 locations in North America.

Partners Group has agreed to acquire a 24.9 per cent equity stake in Apex International Corporation (Apex), a globally integrated logistics solutions provider, on behalf of its clients.
Upon closing of the transaction, Partners Group will join majority shareholder Kuehne+Nagel Group, one of the world’s leading logistics companies, with a seat on the Apex Board.

Gresham House Energy Storage Fund plc, the UK’s largest fund investing in utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS), has signed contracts for the acquisition of a further 425MW of projects from Gresham House Devco Limited (the current pipeline) of which 275MW are proceeding into construction with commissioning targeted for Q1 2022 and the remaining 150MW will be built subject to funding and other conditions.

AURELIUS has successfully closed its acquisition of SSE Contracting Limited (SSEC) from SSE Plc in a complex carve-out of the multi-disciplinary Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) contracting business for an enterprise value of GBP27.5 million.
As a standalone business SSEC is one of the biggest M&E contractors in the UK and Ireland providing mechanical, electrical, rail, street lighting and high voltage engineering services to install and maintain key infrastructure.
