Orbex, a European space launch company, has secured USD24 million in a funding round led by BGF and Octopus Ventures, one of the largest VCs in Europe.BGF and Octopus Ventures have joined existing investors High-Tech Gründerfonds, Heartcore Capital and Elecnor SA – parent company of the multi-national space firm Deimos Space – in a new funding round for the orbital launch services company. Kirkland & Ellis has represented Integral Group, a Tokyo-based private equity group, in the successful structuring and fundraising of Integral Fund IV, which held its final closing at its hard cap of JPY123.8 billion on 4 December, 2020. Integral Fund IV is the fourth buy-out fund raised by Integral Group. Integral Fund IV will continue to primarily invest in buy-out opportunities in Japanese mid-market segments.  The fund was substantially oversubscribed and received strong support from new and existing investors, including Japanese and international banks, insurance companies, pension funds, endowments, and other prestigious institutional investors.
Modularbank has secured EUR4 million in a late Seed Funding round led by Karma Ventures and BlackFin Capital Partners, with additional support from Plug and Play Ventures, Siena Capital and angel investor Ott Kaukver, who is the ex-CTO of Twilio and Skype. The funding will enable the company to bolster its engineering and commercial teams, and further invest in its technology platform.   Modularbank’s cloud-agnostic core banking platform, built with an API-first approach, allows banks, financial services companies and any other business such as retailers, utility companies or telemedicine providers, to seamlessly integrate its modular banking technology into their existing infrastructure.
Polaris Private Equity is to divest Danish ferry operator Molslinjen A/S to EQT Infrastructure. Molslinjen has developed strongly under Polaris’ ownership since 2015 and expanded the business on the back of significant investments.Since 2015, Molslinjen has expanded from two to nine ferry routes and increased the fleet from three to 15 vessels, which serve up to eight million passengers annually. Molslinjen is today the largest domestic ferry company in Denmark with routes between Jutland and Zealand as well as ferry connections to and from Bornholm, Langeland, Als, Fanø and Samsø as well as Sweden and Germany. OpenFin, the operating system (OS) of finance, has secured a strategic investment from SC Ventures, the innovation, fintech investment and ventures arm of international banking group, Standard Chartered. The capital will accelerate new product development and brings OpenFin’s total funding to date to USD50 million. OpenFin’s web-based OS has become the de facto standard in financial services for powering next-generation application and desktop experiences by creating interfaces that make the financial desktop simple and intuitive. Upvest, a Berlin-based startup offering the first plug-and-play pan-European securities API, has secured an additional EUR5 million in funding. The latest financing round was led by Earlybird and ensured the close of the Series A+. This additional funding follows an initial EUR7 million investment from Notion Capital, HV Capital and Partech. Upvest is also supported by fintech angel investors including Maximilian Tayenthal, founder of N26, Felix Haas founder of IDNow and Reiner Mauch, founder of Consorsbank. Charterhouse Capital Partners (Charterhouse) is to invest in Lane Clark & Peacock (LCP), a professional advisory firm specialising in pensions, investment consulting and insurance. Charterhouse is partnering with the Partner group of LCP to acquire the Inflexion minority stake.
