GE Capital names chief investment officer for leveraged finance business

Paul Scott has been named chief investment officer and head of sponsor coverage for GE Capital’s leveraged finance business in Europe and the Middle East.

Scott will report to James Fenner, president and chief executive of GE Capital’s leveraged finance business.

Scott will focus on building long-term relationships with private equity firms through GE Capital’s coverage of mid-market sponsors. He will also oversee all secondary market investment opportunities and further develop GE Capital’s existing partnership with Mubadala GE Capital in the Middle East.

“Despite the tough market conditions, GE Capital has been one of the most active lenders in 2010 with our UK business being a key driver of that activity,“ says Fenner. “That success is testament to the impact of Paul’s unique combination of transaction experience and industry knowledge and expanding his role will allow us to extend our comprehensive array of execution capabilities to clients across Europe and the Middle East.”

Scott has been at GE Capital for almost three years as head of sponsor coverage UK. Prior to joining GE, Scott worked at Merrill Lynch, Barclays and Bank of Scotland.
