Highland Capital adds to business development staff

Highland Capital Management, an investment management firm based in Dallas, Texas, has appointed Clay Shumway as a director in its business development group.

Shumway will help Highland develop and manage relationships with institutional investors, including public and corporate pension plans, endowments and foundations and wealth management firms.

He reports to Kevin Latimer, partner, head of business development and marketing for Highland. Shumway will be based in Dallas.

"Clay’s strong experience and stellar leadership add additional depth to our business development team. He will be a great resource for institutional investors seeking to learn more about Highland Capital, our vast credit expertise, and our commitment to providing investment solutions and high quality service to our clients," says Latimer.

Shumway adds: "Highland is one of the industries’ best asset and credit managers, with an excellent long-term track record and a strong position from which to generate further growth. I look forward to working with Highland’s investors to achieve their goals by leveraging the firm’s broad investment expertise and commitment to exceptional client service."

Shumway has ten years of investment industry business development experience. He joins Highland from Newcastle Capital Management, where he was vice president of business development and investor relations. Before that, he held the same position at Swank Capital. Earlier in his career, he held sales roles with JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs.
