Josh Silverman joins Greylock Partners as executive in residence

Greylock Partners, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm, has appointed entrepreneur and former Skype chief executive officer Josh Silverman to the position of executive in residence.

Prior to joining Greylock, Silverman was the chief executive officer of Skype. Previously he was the chief executive officer of Shopping.com, part of eBay.

Before Shopping.com, Silverman led the development of eBay’s EU classifieds business.

Silverman began his relationship with Greylock as the chief executive officer and co-founder of Evite, a social event planning web service.

“Josh was the chief executive officer and co-founder of Evite, which was one of our first consumer internet company collaborations here in Silicon Valley,” says David Sze, partner at Greylock. “At Greylock, we value and build long-term relationships with entrepreneurs and executives. We measure our performance both by the success and impact of our companies and when our partners choose to work with us on their next ventures. We are pleased to work with Josh again.”

“I look forward to working as an EIR at Greylock Partners, where I saw first-hand as a co-founder and chief executive officer how well the firm partners with early stage and high growth companies. As many of the partners have been operators and founders, they can relate and provide support from their own experiences. It will be great to work with them again,” says Silverman.
