Private capital markets veteran Kevin Nee has been named president of Wilshire Private Markets.

Nee (pictured) joins Wilshire Associates from BlackRock where he was a managing director and member of the investment and management committees for the BlackRock Private Equity Partners team.

In his new post, Nee, who also has been named to the Wilshire Associates board of directors, will focus on consolidating and expanding Wilshire Private Markets’ domestic and international operations to better position the group for continued growth. The group currently has five offices and more than USD6.5bn in discretionary portfolios under management.

Dennis Tito, Wilshire Associates founder, chief executive officer and chairman, says: "Kevin’s 16 years of experience working in the international private capital markets arena, combined with his extensive background and proven ability in business development, made him the ideal candidate to lead Wilshire Private Markets moving forward.’

Prior to BlackRock’s acquisition of Quellos Group in the autumn of 2007, Nee was a principal of Quellos, where he co-founded that firm’s private capital division. He was also  a member of that division’s investment committee and portfolio management group, and served on the firm’s portfolio management group responsible for co-investment activities across alternative asset classes. Nee joined Quellos in 2001 and began his private markets career with Invesco’s private capital group, where he managed fund-of-funds portfolios and participated in direct company investments. He also worked for Capital Z Investments.
