Kirin Media Ventures, a Los Angeles-based film finance and management company, has launched its inaugural USD25 million investment fund. The fund, with strong backing from Chinese investors, will invest in Hollywood motion picture projects.

“We are excited to launch the fund with a focus on investing in independent films with commercial appeal and Studio distribution,” says Jeff Chao, Managing Partner, Kirin Media. “We want to recognize our strategic partner Leo Jianjun Zheng from the Shanghai AllBright Law Firm for helping us navigate the Chinese investment landscape. We also look forward to fulfilling our film financing strategy in Hollywood through our US partners Rashaun Williams and Charles E Bush.”

Kirin Media, its managers and advisors are seasoned veterans in the Hollywood film industry with a combined over 100 years in the investment, management and production of major studio projects. The fund will draw on these proven experiences and connections to bring some of the major names in the industry for the slate.

“Entertainment is fast becoming a hot investment area and Hollywood is by far the hottest investment focus, especially with the opening of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone,” says Leo Zheng, Partner, AllBright Law Firm. “Chinese investors, when accessing this new area, need management partners like Kirin Media, who provides extensive resources and expertise in professional management and advisory to enhance efficiency while reducing risk.”
