Global private investment firm KKR & Co is planning to launch its first global climate fund and is targeting a fundraise of up to $7bn to invest in energy transition opportunities, according to a report by Reuters.
The report cites a person with direct knowledge of the matter as revealing that the New York-headquartered firm is looking to hold a first-close of the fund in the first half of next year.
According to Reuters’ source, the new fund will look for investment opportunities of between $300m and $750m across the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, and will focus on energy storage, battery-related ventures and transportation, as well as the decarbonisation of existing assets like conventional power and infrastructure.
