Global law firm K&L Gates has appointed David A Bronner and Todd R Southwell as partners in the firm’s corporate/M&A practice in Los Angeles and Chicago, respectively.
Bronner joins the firm from Nixon Peabody, while Southwell arrives from Clark Hill.
Bronner advises private equity funds, emerging growth companies, family-owned businesses, and public companies on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital investments, industry consolidations, equity and debt financings, and securities transactions. He counsels entrepreneurs and executives on a broad range of corporate and business matters and has served as an expert witness in high-profile law cases in the United States and internationally.
Southwell focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital transactions, and general business counselling matters, including management and board discussions, planning, structuring, negotiations, document drafting, and implementation. He represents acquirers, international sellers, and targets in mergers, acquisitions, takeovers, leveraged buyouts, exchange and tender offers, corporate reorganisations and restructurings, and joint ventures. Southwell also advises private equity firms and portfolio companies in a variety of activities, with particular experience in the airline, transportation, defence, energy and utilities, financial, food and beverage, insurance, manufacturing, health care, and technology sectors.
“We are pleased that David and Todd are joining the firm,” says Rick Giovannelli, a leader of K&L Gates’ global corporate and transactional practice area. “Our clients will benefit greatly from their experience and relationships in the key, thriving transactional markets of Los Angeles and Chicago.”
The lawyers’ arrival follows the recent additions of Dooyong Kang in Tokyo and Owen Chio in Hong Kong to K&L Gates’ corporate practice.
K&L Gates’ corporate/M&A practice is one of the most substantial in the legal industry, with more than 500 lawyers in offices on five continents assisting clients in the structuring, financing, and completion of domestic, international, and cross-border transactions.
