L Catterton agrees $500m-plus acquisition of Good Culture

Private equity firm L Catterton has agreed to acquire a majority stake in US cottage cheese brand Good Culture in a deal valuing the business at more than $500m, according to a report by Reuters.

Good Culture’s sales have nearly quadrupled over the past three years, driven by renewed consumer demand for cottage cheese, with the category growing close to 60% over the same period. The Austin, Texas-based company also produces sour cream and cream cheese.

L Catterton said it plans to support Good Culture’s expansion by investing in additional production capacity, wider distribution, and product innovation. Existing investor Manna Tree will reinvest as part of the transaction.

The deal is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026. L Catterton, which is backed by LVMH, manages around $37bn in assets and invests in global consumer-focused businesses.
