Inflexion Private Equity has backed the management buyout of Calco Group BV (Calco), a Dutch provider of outsourced IT recruitment and training services to large blue-chip corporates. Calco focuses on the provision of junior professionals mainly to the finance and insurance sectors with clients including the main banks and the top insurance companies in the Netherlands. Offshore law firm Carey Olsen has advised entities managed by The Carlyle Group and affiliates of Värde Partners on the AUD1.2 billion restructure and recapitalisation of the Bis Industries group, an Australian resources logistics and materials handling provider. The transaction, implemented via two Australian creditors’ schemes of arrangement and a subsequent recapitalisation through a partial debt-for-equity swap, sees Bis cut its total debt from approximately AUD1.2 billion to approximately AUD280 million (plus AUD38 million of finance leases). The State Street Global Exchange Private Equity Index (GXPEI) closed the third quarter of 2017 with a solid performance of 3.85 per cent with Buyout Funds continuing to lead private equity strategies in gains. CVC Capital Partners (CVC) has closed CVC Fund VI’s acquisition of the international women’s health assets which the fund agreed to acquire from Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd in Q3 2017. The new company, called Theramex, is a global specialty pharmaceutical company dedicated to women and their health. Headquartered in London, UK, the company will market a broad range of innovative, branded and branded generic products across 50 countries around the world.  The portfolio, which is dedicated to women’s health, focuses on contraception, fertility, menopause and osteoporosis and includes key brands such as Ovaleap®, Zoely®, Seasonique®, Actonel®, Estreva® and Lutenyl. The Theramex brand
Aberdeen Standard Investments has launched the UK Equity Impact – Employment Opportunities Fund, in collaboration with Big Issue Invest, the social investment arm of The Big Issue. The Fund will be managed by Lesley Duncan, Investment Director, Aberdeen Standard Investments. The aim of the Fund is to generate a financial return over the long term by investing in companies which promote and implement good employment opportunities and practices. Unigestion’s Euro Choice Secondary II (ECS II), a European small and mid-market private equity secondary investment programme, has completed its final close at its hard-cap of EUR300 million. The fund attracted a high level of interest with some 59 limited partners subscribing. The final close of ECS II was achieved by attracting strong investor support from both new and existing clients including public and private pension funds, endowments, sovereign investors, insurance companies, family offices and high net worth individuals. The subscriber base was truly global, with partners from Australia, Africa, North America, Canada and various countries across Europe.   ECS

A team from Noerr led by Georg Schneider has assisted private equity funds advised by Orlando Management AG in the sale of TierOne Beteiligungs GmbH to HIG Capital. TierOne is a holding company which holds a majority stake in the automotive supplier Beinbauer.   The Beinbauer Group primarily specialises in components for commercial vehicles and consists of Beinbauer Automotive and Wagner Automotive, which together have around 700 employees at four sites.
French private equity investor Siparex enjoyed a record year in 2017 with EUR206 million in investments and EUR213 million in exits reflecting contributions from all of the company’s business segments. The Group’s strong activity in 2017 confirms the pertinence of the Siparex model featuring five business segments (Midmarket, Midcaps, Small Caps, Innovation, and Mezzanine) spanning the entire corporate growth cycle. All business segments have contributed to the Group’s strong growth in recent years.
