Circularity Capital, a specialist private equity firm targeting high-growth European SMEs in the circular economy, has made its maiden investment in Winnow Solutions (Winnow).
Headquartered in London, with offices in Dubai, Shanghai and Singapore, Winnow has developed a solution for designing out food waste in commercial catering facilities. The business has operations in 29 countries working with thousands of chefs and cooks to reduce food waste. Sites using the solution typically see food waste cut in half within 12 months from point of installation, resulting in an increase in gross margin of 2 - 6%.

Founded in 2014 as a spin-off from innotec Systemtechnik, Syncos offers its “Mittelstand” customers in the manufacturing sector holistic MES solutions (Manufacturing Execution Systems). The software covers production and machine data acquisition (“PDA” / ”MDA”), advanced planning and scheduling (”APS”), track-and-trace as well as computer-aided quality assurance (”CAQ”). The current version of the software combines production and quality management in a highly integrated, modular system.

Maven Capital Partners (Maven) is making a GBP3million investment in Altra Consultants Limited (Altra) to fund the growth of its Lloyds of London registered insurance brokering subsidiary, Parker Norfolk & Partners Ltd (PNP).
Following its acquisition of PNP, Altra obtained all requisite FCA approvals to enable it to use PNP’s Lloyds brass plate thereby delivering significant advantage to Altra’s service offering, enabling the firm to generate revenues via a mixture of direct sales to corporate entities and wholesale insurance from other insurance brokers.

Intel Capital, Intel Corporation’s global investment organisation, has announced new investments totalling more than USD60 million in 15 technology startups, bringing its year-to-date investing to more than USD566 million.

London-based impact investment firm Red Ribbon Asset Management has launched the Red Ribbon Private Equity Fund and the Red Ribbon Real Estate Fund.
The funds will focus on socially responsible investments in emerging and growth markets, and India in particular.
The new Funds, both of which are listed, will restrict investment to ventures whose commercial objectives conform strictly to Mainstream Impact Investment criteria. Sheridan Capital Partners has completed a majority recapitalisation of existing portfolio company Smile Doctors. Through the recapitalisation, Linden Capital is joining as lead investor while Sheridan and management are both rolling over equity.

PNC Bank has closed a USD150 million revolving line of credit for CDI Corp, a portfolio company of AE Industrial Partners. PNC Bank served as administrative agent.
CDI Corp will use the funds, in part, to repay existing debt, partially finance the acquisition by AE Industrial Partners, LLC, and provide for ongoing working capital needs. Products associated with the transaction include treasury management services.

Legal practice Osborne Clarke has advised RJD Partners (RJD), the UK Private Equity investor, on the management buyout of Class Tours Limited (Class Tours), a leading provider of language programmes and educational tours to schools in the UK.
