Funds advised by Apax Partners (Apax Funds) are to acquire a majority stake in matchesfashion.com, a leading digitally innovative global luxury-fashion brand.
The founders, Tom and Ruth Chapman, as well as existing venture capital backers Scottish Equity Partners (SEP) and Highland Europe, will retain minority stakes in the business. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in Q4 2017. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

KKR is to acquire a majority stake in Laser Clinics Australia (LCA) while existing investor The Growth Fund will retain a minority stake in the Company.
LCA is a provider of non-invasive aesthetic treatments in Australia with a network of more than 80 clinics supported by aligned franchisees and a trusted brand. As partners, KKR and The Growth Fund will assist LCA’s management and franchise network in growing the Company through the continued expansion of the clinic network, the introduction of new product and service offerings, and international expansion.

Healthcare services company Surgery Partners has successfully completed its previously announced acquisition of National Surgical Healthcare (NSH), an owner and operator of surgical facilities in partnership with local physicians.
On 9 May, 2017, Surgery Partners announced a definitive merger agreement under which Surgery Partners would acquire NSH from Irving Place Capital for approximately USD760 million. The combination of Surgery Partners and NSH creates an enterprise with 125 surgical facilities across 32 states, with a strong presence in musculoskeletal programs, including orthopaedics, pain and spine. SCM Insurance Services (SCM) has secured a majority investment from funds affiliated with Warburg Pincus, a global private equity firm focused on growth investing.
This major investment, along with the continued investment in SCM by TorQuest Partners, will provide SCM with access to important capital and strategic resources to continue to invest in and significantly grow its business in Canada and its recent entry into the United States. Henkel has successfully closed the acquisition of Nattura Laboratorios. The original agreement to acquire the firm and associated companies in the USA, Colombia and Spain was signed on 8 March, 2017.
With this acquisition, Henkel strengthens its Hair Professional business and significantly expands its market positions in Mexico and the USA. The transaction includes a portfolio of leading brands in Henkel’s core category Hair Professional. Major brand are Pravana and Tec Italy. In the fiscal year 2016, Nattura Laboratorios generated sales of more than EUR100 million.

MPC Renewable Energies, a subsidiary of international investment manager MPC Capital, along with the project developer Ferrostaal, the Danish Climate Investment Fund (DCIF) and other project partners, has achieved financial closing for the Sainshand 55 MW onshore windpark in Mongolia, for USD120 million.
The lenders have agreed to provide a total project financing of USD78.5 million, which comprises the European Investment Bank (EIB) funding of USD47 million and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) funding of USD31.5 million.

Funds managed by mid-market private equity firm Equistone Partners Europe have invested in DefShop, a leading German multichannel retailer for streetwear and hip-hop clothing.
Equistone will acquire a majority stake in DefShop from the founder of the business, Alexander Büchler, and his family, who will together retain a minority shareholding. DefShop’s management team will also acquire a minority stake in the business. The financial terms of the deal are undisclosed and the acquisition remains subject to clearance from anti-trust authorities.

Foresight Group has invested GBP500,000 on behalf of the Foresight Williams Technology EIS Fund into Southampton-based Utonomy, an intelligent gas grid solutions provider. The transaction is the fund’s first investment.
Established in 2015, Utonomy has developed an innovative technology for reducing leakage in gas distribution networks. Its unique “internet of things” solution automatically optimises gas distribution pressures through electro-mechanical actuators retrofitted to the network and controlled by intelligent, cloud-based software.

TPG Growth, the middle market and growth equity platform of alternative asset firm TPG, and QRG Enterprises Limited, the family office of the promoters of Havells Group, have made a minority investment in Campus Activewear (Campus).
