Softbank’s decision to choose a Jersey-based financial services company to administer its USD100 billion technology fund is expected to lead to more funds domiciling in the island.
The Softbank Vision Fund was launched in October 2016 with the aim of becoming the biggest investor in the technology industry over the next decade.
The decision to have the fund administered in Jersey has been described as a “game changer” in the selection of fund domiciles by several attendees at the Jersey Finance Annual Funds Conference in London last week.

Quilvest Private Equity, the private equity arm of the Quilvest group, and Antoine Henry, former head of Sage France, have acquired Eudonet, a publisher and integrator of CRM solutions, from its current founders (Christophe Morizot, Bertrand de La Villegeorges and Guillaume Bouillot) and additional shareholders NAXICAP Partners.
The acquisition will be made through an organised divestiture process. Financial terms have not been disclosed.

Middle-market private equity firm Genstar Capital has acquired Bracket, a scientifically-driven clinical trial technology and specialty services provider, from Parthenon Capital Partners.
Bracket offers solutions that help pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, as well as contract research organisations, maximise clinical data integrity and ultimately improve outcomes with clinical trials.
Bracket has over 700 employees and delivers services in more than 90 countries to a diverse base of global customers, including 15 of the top 20 biopharma companies.

Tilak Healthcare, a start-up from the iBionext network developing medical video games for both the diagnosis and follow-up of chronic diseases, has secured funding of EUR2.5 million from iBionext Growth Fund.
The funds will help the company accelerate the development of its therapeutic mobile games, first targeting the ophthalmology field, with macular diseases.
The alliance of digital innovation and clinical expertise will allow Tilak Healthcare to offer screening and prevention solutions, thus leading to a better follow-up of many chronic diseases.

French private equity market participants raised EUR14.7 billion in global commitments during 2016, up 51 per cent relative to 2015, according to a report from the Association Française des Investisseurs pour la Croissance (AFIC) and Grant Thornton.

Sealed Air Corporation is to sell its Diversey Care division and the food hygiene and cleaning business within its Food Care division (New Diversey) to Bain Capital Private Equity for approximately USD3.2 billion.
New Diversey will be a leading hygiene and cleaning solutions company that integrates chemicals, floor care machines, tools and equipment, with a wide range of technology based value-added services, food safety services and water and energy management.
It will continue to employ approximately 8,600 people globally.
Diversey Care and the related food hygiene businesses combined generated net sales of approximately USD2.6 billion in 2016.
SEI increased its assets under administration (AUA) by 25 per cent in 2016, with year-over-year net flows in its UK private banking business rising by 21 per cent.
The business, which provides outsourced investment processing technology for private banks and wealth management firms through the SEI Wealth Platform, ended the year with AUA at GBP31.6 billion, up from GBP25.2 billion in 2015 – an increase of 25 per cent.
In 2016 SEI also added WHIreland, Netwealth, and Munnypot to its client base and extended contracts with Danske Bank and Veritas Investment Management.

UT business solutions firm Orion has acquired New York-based Structured Network Solutions (SNS).
Orion says the deal strengthens its capabilities in network design, directory authentication services, IT security policy, design strategies and storage solutions and adds strength to its market share in government, non-governmental organisations, and not-for-profits verticals.
It is Orion’s second acquisition in two weeks.
Headquartered in Melville, New York, SNS was co-founded in 1998 by Anthony Anastasio, Barry Dubson and Joe D'Agostino, who will remain in their current roles along with their team of 20 developers, architects, and systems engineers.
