Attendees at this year’s Guernsey Funds Forum will have the opportunity to learn more about the proposed introduction of Guernsey’s new Manager Led Product (MLP).
The MLP aims to ensure a proportionate risk-based level of product regulation for any Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM) that establishes itself in Guernsey and seeks to market into Europe under the National Private Placement Regime (NPPR) arrangements. The introduction of the MLP would place the regulations on the AIFM only. Representatives from the Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC) will be in attendance at the Funds Forum to discuss the proposed regime in greater detail
The latest New Zealand Private Equity and Venture Capital Monitor highlights an increase of investment in 2015 for both private equity and venture capital markets. Mid-market investment increased to NZD284.1 million from NZD243.5 million in 2014.
The average deal value at NZD16.7 million was greater than the average of NZD12.8 million in 2014. The increase in investment activity was coupled with continued strength in divestment as the portfolio companies of domestic funds sought investors for future growth.

City Capital Ventures, a private investment partnership headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, has acquired a majority stake in Diedrich Roasters (Diedrich) of Ponderay, Idaho.
The Company will continue to operate independently under the leadership of current CEO Michael Paquin and his team. Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

B Riley Financial, a provider of financial and business advisory services, has signed a definitive agreement and plan of merger to acquire United Online, a provider of consumer services and products over the Internet, for USD11.00 per share, or approximately USD170 million.
The consideration represents approximately USD48 million in cash consideration from B Riley Financial after taking into account the projected United Online cash balance at closing.

Australian investment manager, QIC has signed an agreement to acquire an 80 per cent interest in the North Australian Pastoral Company (NAP), one of Australia’s oldest and largest agricultural enterprises.
NAP covers 5.8 million hectares across Queensland and the Northern Territory and approximately 178,000 head of cattle.
At the conclusion of the transaction, NAP’s largest shareholder, the Foster family will retain an interest in NAP of approximately 20 per cent. Via, an on-demand transit company, is raising USD100 million in Series C funding, having closed USD70 million, with USD30 million in strategic investment to close in the coming weeks.
The funding was led by Pitango Growth, who were joined by leading venture capital firms, family offices, and strategic investors from North America, Europe, and Asia, including Poalim Capital Markets and C4 Ventures. Previous investors Ervington Investments (representing Roman Abramovich), Hearst Ventures, and 83North (formerly Greylock IL) also participated. NVM Private Equity (NVM) has led the recent fundraising round for Manchester based software company MPD Group. NVM has invested GBP2.5 million which will enable the business to continue to develop and deploy their new, disruptive Electio SaaS product.
Electio is a delivery management platform enabling retailers to rapidly increase the number of delivery options they offer to their customers.

Silicon wafer manufacturer 1366 Technologies (1366) has received a USD10 million investment from Korean private equity/venture capital firm Hanwha Investment Corporation.
The funds will be used toward the construction of 1366’s first large-scale commercial factory, scheduled to be online in 2017.

Law firm Howard Kennedy has advised Cenkos Securities on the GBP3.2 million fund raising by the AIM traded company, MedaPhor Group plc.
This secondary fund raising was effected via a share placing, with Cenkos acting as Nomad and Broker to MedaPhor Group plc.
MedaPhor Group plc is a global provider of world leading ultrasound training simulators for medical professionals. The fundraising follows a three-year agreement between MedaPhor Group plc and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynaecology to use its ultrasound simulator within its obstetrics and gynaecology exams.

UK-based private equity house Maven Capital Partners (Maven) has completed a GBP2.5 million investment in The GP Service (UK) Limited (GPS), a provider of online services for general medical consultations and prescriptions.
The investment will enable GPS to accelerate the roll-out of its service across new geographical locations, and develop a range of products and services where there are strong market drivers.
