Private equity house Maven Capital Partners has led the GBP4.5 million Management Buy-In of CB Technology Limited (CB), an established contract electronics manufacturer with a focus on complex manufacturing and testing for deployment in harsh environments. Maven has assembled a strong buy-in team for CB led by John Cameron, formerly at GE & UTC Technologies and who most recently served as Commercial Director at Finnish-based Marioff, where he headed-up a team of over 200 people with annual revenues in excess of EUR100 million. Graham Scott, previously CFO of Memex, a SAS Group company, has also joined the business as FD.
Nordic Capital Fund VII has expanded its footprint in the sports market with the add-on acquisition of leading e-commerce football company Unisport.   The Unisport brand will operate alongside SPORTMASTER which was acquired in 2012. The two companies have an excellent strategic fit and a platform for further expansion both in stores and online, in the Nordics and internationally. Unisport’s e-commerce platform is dedicated to football obsessed consumers providing in-house produced football related content. European private equity firm Cinven is to acquire Premium Credit Limited, the UK specialty finance provider, for an enterprise value of GBP462 million. Premium Credit plays an important part in the UK economy enabling businesses and individuals to spread the cost of their insurance premiums and other essential purchases. It also provides financing for the payment of annual fees such as professional fees, membership subscriptions, commercial service charges and school fees.  In 2013, the Company achieved gross advances of GBP3.7 billion, processing 25.8 million transactions. Premium Credit has approximately two million customers and works with 4,000 intermediaries.

BlackFin Capital Partners is off to a strong start in raising its second Financial Services fund, securing EUR160 million, mostly from existing investors and on track to raise a total of EUR350 million. On January 9th, BlackFin Capital Partners secured aggregate commitments in excess of EUR160 million for its BlackFin Financial Services Fund II, from European institutional investors and family-offices. This 1st Closing, comprised mostly of commitments from investors in BlackFin’s first fund, paves the way for a broader institutional fund-raise, with the target of reaching EUR350 million before year-end. Aquila Capital has acquired Norway’s second-largest operator of small-scale hydropower plants on behalf of institutional clients that include Dutch pension fund ABP and German insurance companies.  The terms of the investment have not been disclosed. Aquila Capital has completed the acquisition of Norsk Grønnkraft AS, an operator of 33 small-scale facilities located in central and southern Norway, from owners Akershus Energi, Energiselskapet Buskerud, E-CO Energi and Østfold Energi. Access Power MEA and ERE have launched Access Infra Africa, a vehicle that will be dedicated to investing in the early stage development of power projects in Africa. Access Infra Africa will be the largest privately funded vehicle of its kind.
