The shareholders of trial strategy consulting firm DOAR have bought back private equity firm Veronis Suhler Stevenson’s stake in the company.
DOAR provides trial strategy consulting and related services for individuals, law firms and corporations involved in high stakes civil, regulatory and white collar criminal litigation. The initial investment by Veronis Suhler Stevenson (VSS) occurred in 2005 with additional investments used to fund growth through the addition of new lines of business and acquisitions.

Preqin has launched its 2015 Preqin Global Alternatives Reports, revealing significant growth in assets held by private equity, hedge fund, private debt, real estate and infrastructure fund managers. Total industry assets now stand at USD6.91tn*, up from USD6.22tn as of this point last year.
Infrastructure enjoyed another year of solid growth in 2014, with the prospects for continued expansion looking good for 2015 and beyond. Assets under management for unlisted infrastructure managers reached an all-time high, having increased by 85% over the past five years.

IFC, with the support of the Government of Canada and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) is helping BMR Jamaica Wind build, operate and maintain a 36.3 MW capacity wind farm about 90 km west of Kingston.
This will be the largest renewable energy project developed by the private sector in Jamaica.

Money Dashboard, the personal finance platform, has raised a further GBP2.5 million as part of its Series A funding round led by private equity fund manager Calculus Capital.
The round also included investment from Ariadne Capital, Par Equity, and The Scottish Investment Bank, and adds to the initial GBP2.7 million investment made in November 2013. The investment brings the total Series A funding raised by Money Dashboard to GBP5.2million (USD8.3m) in 12 months.

Bravia Capital has acquired a significant minority stake in Thotakã Tecknologies India Private Limited (“Thotakã”), a Hyderabad, India based Engineering Services Company.
Thotakã is a business focused on high-technology product engineering and value added pilot manufacturing. The emergence of multi-Giga Hertz data-rates at chip and system level and modern communication technologies using radio frequencies, are creating new categories of devices and large-scale middleware systems development. Thotakã is focused on these developments across industrial and consumer appliances, automotive electronics, telecommunications devices and other strategic electronics.

CVC, Apax and TPG buyout funds were the most desired secondaries in 2014, according to Cebile Capital, a firm that advises buyers and sellers of private equity secondary stakes.
The results are from Cebile’s List of Most Demanded Secondaries 2014, which assesses the secondaries market demand of US and European buyout funds.

Andreessen Horowitz – the venture capital firm created by Netscape and Opsware founders Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz – has led a Series C USD58m round in Europe’s leading financial tech start-up TransferWise.
TransferWise’s existing investors, including Sir Richard Branson, Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures, Index Ventures, IA Ventures, and Seedcamp, also participated in the round.
The start-up will use these funds for global expansion. It opens its US office next month and will be opening offices in Germany and in Australia in the next few months. The company plans to open 300 further currency routes in the next year.

Real estate as an asset class has been an important contributor to this growth, as improving valuations of unrealised assets have seen the value of private real estate industry assets rise by USD85bn over the 12 months to June 2014. Harris Williams & Co is acting as the exclusive financial advisor to TA Associates. The pending transaction, which is expected to close by the end of January 2015, is being led by Thierry Monjauze and Jonathan Organ from Harris Williams & Co’s Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT) Group in London.
