Solar simulation technology specialist Eternal Sun has closed a EUR2 Million (USD2.5 Million) Series A financing from Belgian investment firm Vermec. Private equity firm DPI has acquired a strategic minority stake HomeChoice International (HomeChoice), a leading omni-channel home shopping retailer in southern Africa, from the the company’s majority shareholder. Founded in 1985, by Rick Garratt, HomeChoice has operations in South Africa and five other countries, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Swaziland and Zambia, with total EBITDA of R450 million as of December 2013 and a customer base of more than one million people. Workers will not only be worse off when their firm is taken over by private equity through an institutional buyout (IBO), but their company’s performance will fall behind its rivals.
