Sustainable waste water treatments solutions provider LAT Water Ltd has raised GBP4.7 million in a funding round led by IW Capital.
To support ambitious early-stage entrepreneurs developing technologies with the potential to shape the future economy, SFC Capital, the UK’s leading SEIS investor and most active seed-stage investor, has invested GBP25 million in 120 companies (April 2020 — April 2021).  In Q1 of 2021, SFC Capital raised its largest SEIS fund to date, with GBP5 million deployed in 40 companies in just two months. The funds have been raised from private investors (SEIS and EIS funds), family offices, the SFC Angel Network and a GBP10 million commitment from the British Business Bank in April 2020 as part of its Regional Angels Programme.
Embassy Group, one of India’s largest real estate conglomerates, has joined proptech investor, Pi Labs, as a limited partner (LP) in its current Fund 3. Emmes, a global, full-service Clinical Research Organisation (CRO) dedicated to supporting the advancement of public health and biopharmaceutical innovation and a portfolio company of Behrman Capital, has acquired Orphan Reach, a CRO specialised in clinical research related to rare diseases.  Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. This marks Emmes’ second acquisition since Behrman’s investment in 2019 and builds on its recent acquisition of Neox SRO (Neox) in December 2020. Praetura Group, the Manchester-based debt and equity capital provider to northern SMEs, provided more than GBP75 million of funding to SMEs in the first quarter of 2021, with demand continuing to rise.    The lending division of the Praetura Group, which comprises Praetura Commercial Finance and the Praetura Asset Finance Group, has seen its highest quarterly lending levels since it was founded in 2011.   Praetura Commercial Finance, which provides asset-based lending (ABL) solutions to SMEs, has enjoyed its best quarter to date, having completed transactions totalling GBP50.5 million in Q1 2021. Private equity firm SFW Capital Partners (SFW) has completed a majority recapitalisation of Granite River Labs (GRL), a specialist in test and certification services and automated test solutions for digital connectivity and charging technologies.  Co-founders Johnson Tan and Quintin Anderson will continue to lead the business and remain significant shareholders.
