Hayfin Capital Management (Hayfin) has announced a record period of deployment through its Direct Lending strategy, having invested EUR3.7 billion in 2020.
Hayfin reached a final close on the commingled Hayfin Direct Lending Fund III and its related separately managed accounts in 2020, raising in excess of EUR5 billion to deploy into performing loans to European middle-market companies. During this record period of activity, the firm bolstered its investment team, business development function and back-office operations with 35 new hires.

Francisco Partners, a global investment firm that specialises in partnering with technology businesses, is to acquire BARBRI Inc (BARBRI) from Leeds Equity Partners (Leeds Equity). Terms of the transaction have not been announced.

Aqua Comms owns and operates some 14,300km of trans-Atlantic sub-sea fibre systems, representing the very “backbone” of the internet.
Aqua Comms’ assets are established, fully operational, and benefit from a long established customer base, particularly comprising the FAANGs, and other global content providers. Arrowpoint Advisory has advised BasePower on its GBP50 million five-year framework project funding agreement with SDCL Energy Efficiency Income Trust plc (SEEIT).
BasePower develops and operates on-site power generation projects for commercial and industrial clients in the UK utilising a range of energy efficiency and carbon reducing technologies including Combined Heat and Power (CHP), solar photovoltaic (PV) and microgrid projects.
The agreement will allow BasePower to accelerate the delivery of sustainable energy projects, having already developed award-winning energy centres for some of the UK’s largest food and automotive manufacturers seeking to reduce their energy costs and carbon footprint.
3i Infrastructure has agreed to invest cEUR182 million to acquire a 60 per cent stake in DNS:NET and to provide additional funding for the future growth of the business.
DNS:NET is an independent telecommunications provider in Germany. 3i Infrastructure is buying its stake from Deutsche Beteiligungs AG’s (DBAG), DBAG ECF, a private equity fund managed by DBAG, and Founder and CEO Alexander Lucke, with the latter reinvesting alongside 3i Infrastructure to retain a 40 per cent stake. Completion is expected to take place in June 2021.

PineBridge Investments (PineBridge), a private, global asset manager focused on active, high-conviction investing, has appointed Kate Faraday as Global Head of Corporate Responsibility.
In this newly created role, Faraday will report directly to PineBridge’s CEO, Greg Ehret. Her primary responsibilities will be to work closely with PineBridge’s Corporate Responsibility Steering Committee, which oversees the firm’s subcommittees. Those subcommittees are dedicated to ESG Investment, Diversity & Inclusion, Stewardship and Company Responsibility.
