Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) has become the first US university to invest in Cosimo Ventures’s new, blockchain-focused tokenised fund, Cosimo X. Based in Boston and Dublin, Cosimo Ventures is an investment firm focused on deep tech companies. This is the first time that any university in the US has invested directly in a tokenised venture fund. IQ Capital has led a GBP 5.5 million series A funding round in CyberSmart, which helps small to medium-sized businesses combat cyber-attacks. Mid-market private equity investor LDC says there are signs transaction activity had started to rebound as more companies looked beyond the impact of the pandemic to long-term growth and diversification strategies.In a half-year update, the firm announced it had backed a total of 18 investments in the first half of 2020. Kester Capital’s (Kester) portfolio company Frontier Medical, has sold its Infection Prevention business in a carve-out to Vernacare, backed by HIG Capital. The deal includes the brands Sharpsafe, Clinisafe and eXchange. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.   The exited businesses are industry-leaders in the Infection Prevention market providing an extensive range of sharps and clinical waste disposal solutions.
