Fitz Gate Ventures has completed the fundraising for its second venture capital fund. Founded in July 2015 by Jim Cohen and Mark Poag, Fitz Gate Ventures invests a majority of its capital in startups from the Princeton University ecosystem, with a minority of its capital available to be invested more broadly. Fitz Gate has 15 current portfolio company investments (and one exit), and all of the startups that have gone out to raise additional capital following Fitz Gate’s investment have done so successfully at premiums from some of the best known venture capital firms in the world.
For Fund II, Fitz
Ashburton Investments, the Jersey-based asset management business of FirstRand Group, has signed an agreement with JTC to administer fund shareholder accounts following full regulatory approval. The partnership will see JTC provide fund administration and fund accounting services to Ashburton Investments investors. The agreement will provide clients in Ashburton’s Jersey domiciled funds and nominee service with an enhanced administration service, delivered through the latest advances in fund administration technology.
This follows a review of Ashburton Investments’ operating platform to better meet the needs of the group’s global client base.

A Coventry-based manufacturer responsible for producing all-electric, black taxis – ‘Hackney Carriages’ – approved by Transport for London (TfL) has secured a GBP1.25 million loan.The funding, which was provided by the Midlands Engine Investment Fund and Maven Capital Partners, will enable Dynamo to recruit and train 50 new employees. The firm is also set to scale up its production capacity.
Dynamo produces an electric taxi known as the ‘Dynamo taxi’. A fully electric version of London’s iconic black cab, the zero-emission vehicle is based on the Nissan e-NV200 and is manufactured in association with Nissan.
