Venture capital fund OTB Ventures (OTB) has launched an early growth technology fund with USD100m in commitments from international institutional investors, including the European Investment Fund (EIF), and high-profile backers including Greg Jankilevitch.Focusing on early stage, post-product, start-ups in the CEE region – spanning Cyber Security, Big Data and AI, Fintech, IoT and Robotics, as well as Cloud and SaaS industry verticals – the new investment vehicle is targeting investment in a total of 16 companies to comprise its portfolio by the end of 2022.

Energy storage specialist Leclanché has signed an agreement with Yorkville Advisors Global, a US New Jersey-based investment firm offering debt and equity financing to global, small and micro-cap companies, for an unsecured US dollars convertible loan facility with a maximum ceiling of USD40 million (approximately CHF39 million). The initial proceeds will be used for Company operations and expansion.

The Craftory has invested USD15 million in Dropps, a direct-to-consumer provider of eco-responsible household cleaning products.This investment will allow Dropps to scale up and meet the growing demand for its subscription business. Dropps intends to expand its team and product development capabilities.
Philadelphia-based Dropps invented the original liquid laundry detergent pod in 2008 and is now widely regarded as one of the US’s leading challenger brands. Since then, laundry detergent pods have taken the world by storm, with unit dose detergent sales making up 18 per cent of the USD7.3 billion US market in 2018.

Real asset specialist Aquila Capital has expanded its partnership with Dutch pension investor APG in European hydropower by EUR250 million to EUR550 million. With this new mandate, Aquila Capital’s assets under management increase to EUR10.75 billion.
Eagle Merchant Partners (Eagle) says its capped another exceptional year with two exits and an add-on acquisition, highlighting the Atlanta-based private equity firm’s successful strategy of focusing on founder-owned, Southeastern companies in the consumer and industrial sectors. The two exits included the sales of Chicken Salad Chick and United PF Partners, which returned more than USD260 million to its investors.
Chicken Salad Chick was sold to Brentwood Associates in November. Acquired in 2015, Eagle grew Chicken Salad Chick to 137 locations in 16 states. Chicken Salad Chick grew system sales seven-fold and added more than 100 new restaurants during the partnership.
Pamlico Capital (Pamlico), a lower middle market private equity firm focused on growth-oriented businesses, has held the first and final close of Pamlico Capital V (PC V) at the fund’s hard cap with total commitments of USD1.4 billion.
