Sweta Chattopadhyay, Bfinance
Since starting her career in 2006 at ABN AMRO, Sweta Chattopadhyay has seen, first-hand, how investors have changed their allocation preferences to private equity. Having worked at a number of prominent UK pension schemes as an in-house advisor, where she developed a broad network of PE manager relationships, Chattopadhyay currently works as Director within the Private Markets team at Bfinance, a London-based independent consultant to global institutional investors, where she is head of Private Equity advisory. Here, Chattopadhyay talks to Private Equity Wire about her personal career evolution, and the changes she has seen along the way.

US Public Realtions firm Gregory FCA has secured a minority growth capital investment from Copley Equity Partners, a Boston-based private investment firm. Founder Gregory Matusky and President Joseph Anthony remain majority owners and will continue to lead the firm. BGF’s North West team has now invested GBP311 million across 34 businesses in the region with GBP59m of that total invested in the past 12 months. New investments included Manchester-headquartered FinTech company Planixs, international schools group Orbital Education and Joloda International, a fast-growing manufacturing firm based in Merseyside. One Equity Partners (OEP), a middle market private equity firm, has completed an investment in Computer Design and Integration (CDI), a provider of IT infrastructure hardware and software, consulting and managed services. As part of the transaction, CDI’s founder and management team rolled over a substantial portion of their interests and retained a significant ownership stake in the Company. Clearview Capital Fund III’s portfolio company, Controlled Products (Controlled Products) and its affiliates, have acquired a majority stake in Purchase Green, and Path to Prosperity, (Purchase Green). The transaction, which closed on 20 November, 2019, included a significant reinvestment by the management team who will remain in their current roles to run the Company. Purchase Green is a specialised distributor of premium quality synthetic turf primarily for landscape and specialty applications. Nimbus has acquired the Centrifugal Castings Division of Doncaster’s Group for an undisclosed sum. The division comprises of Teeside based Paralloy and South Yorkshire based FVC both providing specialist engineered products that service domestic and international markets in the petrochemicals, and aerospace industries respectively.Nimbus has backed the senior management team, led by Chief Executive Robert McGowan, to acquire the business and will use its pan European footprint to support Paralloy and FVC’s growth and export plans.  Investment Director at Nimbus, David Keenan, who led the deal, says: “Paralloy represents a great example of UK manufacturing despite these uncertain economic times.
CBPE Capital (CBPE) has completed the sale of its shareholding in Allied Glass (Allied) to a vehicle funded by Sun Capital and Allied management. The terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.Allied is the UK’s leading manufacturer of premium glass containers and is headquartered in Yorkshire. The business specialises in short, flexible production runs of high-quality glass packaging. Allied’s focus is on serving the premium spirits markets. Chester-based Sykes Holiday Cottages, a UK-based independent holiday home provider, has agreed a deal to acquire Pure Cottages Group from private equity investor LDC for an undisclosed sum.The Pure Cottages Group is a collection of five luxury holiday rental agencies, created following LDC’s investment in Lakelovers in December 2017 and its support of the business’ acquisitive growth strategy. In 2017, Lakelovers managed 500 holiday properties in the Lake District. Today, Pure Cottages Group manages more than 1,500 holiday homes throughout Cumbria, Cornwall and the Cotswolds, having acquired Heart of the Lakes, Lake District Lodge Holidays, Character Cottages, John Bray Cornish
