Sticks’n’Sushi, the Copenhagen-based restaurant and takeaway group operating 27 sites across the UK, Denmark and Germany, has been acquired by McWin Capital Partners, a London-based private equity firm with Gail’s, Vapiano and L’Osteria on its portfolio.
The deal marks the end of a 10-year ownership by Maj Invest, a Danish asset manager.
Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed but the acquisition sum has been reported by the Financial Times to be a “multimillion-euro deal”. Sticks‘n’Sushi generated £90m of revenues in the year ending June 2023.
Andreas Karlsson, the group’s Chief Executive, who joined the business in 2011 to oversee its UK growth, will continue to lead Sticks’n’Sushi as it looks to expand in France and central Europe. Sticks’n’Sushi was founded in 1994 by Thor Andersen and brothers Kim Rahbek Hansen and Jens Rahbek Hansen, with the latter two’s Japanese-Danish background serving as inspiration for their menu.
