MidOcean adds ex-Microsoft Chief Data Analytics Officer to executive board

MidOcean Partners, a New York-based alternative asset manager specialising in middle-market private equity and alternative credit investments, has appointed John B Kahan, former Chief Data Analytics Officer of Microsoft, as an Operating Partner.

MidOcean Partners, a New York-based alternative asset manager specialising in middle-market private equity and alternative credit investments, has appointed John B Kahan, former Chief Data Analytics Officer of Microsoft, as an Operating Partner.

Kahan has nearly four decades of data science, global business, and technology transformation experience across some of the world’s leading technology companies, including Microsoft and IBM. He brings more than thirty years of experience serving on both for-profit and non-profit boards to MidOcean, where he will leverage his data analytics and artificial intelligence expertise to help generate value at the firm’s portfolio companies.
  
As Chief Data Analytics Officer of Microsoft, Kahan was responsible for integrating the company’s AI and data practices. Previously, he served in various General Manager-level roles responsible for Microsoft’s worldwide customer relationship marketing. 

Prior to Microsoft, Kahan spent 18 years at IBM, where he served in multiple roles including Vice President of Integrated Marketing Communications responsible for transforming the company’s marketing and sales efforts. 

Kahan earned a BS in Computer Science and Mathematics from Binghamton University and an MBA from the New York University Stern School of Business.
