Mobeus Equity Partners exits architectural VR studio The Boundary

Mobeus Equity Partners has exited The Boundary, a provider of architectural visualisation software, to UK private equity firm Kester Capital, which has backed the existing management team.

The exit marks the fifth realisation for Mobeus 1. The firm is currently investing Mobeus 2, which completed its seventh investment in May.

Mobeus initially invested in The Boundary in 2021, after which the studio’s profits grew by 2.5x, according to a statement. The private equity firm also provided funding for last year’s acquisition of New Zealand-based Buildmedia.

Mobeus also oversaw the addition of a CFO and COO, as well as introducing Andrew McGuinness to the board as Chair. The Boundary now comprises 100 3D artists and software developers across three offices globally.

The Boundary and Mobeus were advised by Arma Partners and Freeths.

Mobeus was founded in 1998, according to PitchBook, and provides up to £20m in funding to UK SMEs.
