Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners is in pole position to acquire Sacyr’s Valoriza Servicios Medioambientales waste management unit in a deal that could value the unit at close to €600 million ($644.8m) including debt, according to a report by Reuters.

The report cites unnamed sources as revealing that Morgan Stanley Infrastructure has beaten off competition from several other firms in an auction for the company held by owner Sacyr – a Spanish construction company – which started in February.

Valoriza Servicios Medioambientales manages a range of waste recycling services including collection, treatment and management of waste.

A deal could be announced as early as next week, although according to sources, there remains a possibility that the transaction will not be completed.
