Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software specialist Cooper Software, which is backed by YFM Equity Partners (YFM), is building its reach in central Europe with the acquisition of German-based ERP consulting firm and IFS Applications specialist u:benit.
The acquisition of the German-based business, which will trade as Cooper Software GmbH, is another step in the company’s strategy to expand internationally following a multi-million pound investment by YFM in November 2021. It will enable Cooper Software to meet growing demand for IFS consulting and implementation services in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (D-A-CH).

App Radar, an app store marketing platform, has secured EUR2 million in pre-Series A investment from Austrian VC firms eQventure and aws Gründerfonds.
App Radar, which last year acquired Spanish app store optimiser TheTool, will use its investment to expand its presence in major European markets and expand its product offering.

Alternative asset management firm Hayfin Capital Management (Hayfin) has appointed Marc Chowrimootoo as a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager within its private credit business.
In this role, Chowrimootoo will work closely with the investment team on sourcing and analysing investment opportunities, as well as portfolio management, across the firm’s private credit strategies.
Chowrimootoo brings a wealth of experience in leveraged finance as well as long-established relationships within the European private equity community, complementing Hayfin’s origination and portfolio management capabilities and its sponsor relationships. He joins from Goldman Sachs, where he was a Managing Director in the European Leveraged Finance
Keensight Capital, a private equity manager dedicated to pan-European Growth Buyout investments, has appointed Dr Uwe Gottschalk as an Operating Partner.
Gottschalk was most recently Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of Lonza Group, the world’s largest company for biologics contract development and manufacturing, and Group Vice President at Sartorius Stedim Biotech, where he had global responsibility for bioseparation process technologies.
Gottschalk will be joining Keensight Capital’s team of international Operating Partners. This network, spanning Europe, Asia, and the US, connects eminent professionals in the Technology and Healthcare industries.
Findings from the CMS Emerging Europe M&A 2021 report, published today in cooperation with EMIS, show that 2021 was a year of rebound and recovery for deal-makers in emerging Europe.
Not only did the region recover from its dip in 2020, with 2021 transaction levels rising to 2,015 deals (up 18.2 per cent), but emerging Europe saw overall deal value reach its highest level since 2013 – increasing to EUR94.27 billion (up 55.1 per cent).

Beringea, a transatlantic venture capital firm, has promoted Eyal Malinger, Maria Wagner, and Vanessa Evanson-Goddard to Partner.
Malinger and Wagner, who have both been key members of Beringea’s investment committee for more than five years, will focus on sourcing deals across the UK, strengthening the firm’s coverage of emerging industries and technologies – including SaaS, e-commerce, marketplaces, data, and AI – as well as working with portfolio companies through to exit.
Evanson-Goddard’s role as Partner and General Counsel will include overseeing legal, compliance, finance, and operations in Beringea’s UK office.
