Synamedia, an independent video software provider backed by the Permira funds and Sky, has appointed Paul Segre as CEO, with immediate effect. Previously CEO of Genesys, Segre succeeds the departing CEO Yves Padrines, who presided over Synamedia’s successful first two years as a customer-focused leader in the expansion of pay-TV with OTT distribution, and the development of innovative solutions to protect revenues from streaming piracy and develop new revenue streams from addressable advertising. Paul will be based in London.

Innova Capital, a private equity firm operating from Poland, has agreed to buy PayPoint Romania from LSE-listed PayPoint plc. The sale is subject to competition and regulatory approvals, as well as other conditions precedent, and therefore completion is anticipated to take place on 31 March 2021.
PayPoint Romania is a market leading consumer payments operator in Romania, collecting over 100 m bill payments for 85 per cent of Romanian utility and telecom providers through a wide network of retail sites. Araris Biotech AG, a company pioneering antibody-drug conjugate (ADC)-linker technology, has received an additional CHF12.7 million in seed financing, bringing the total amount raised to CHF15.2 million.The investment round was led by Pureos Bioventures with participation from new investors 4BIO Capital, btov Partners and existing investors Redalpine, VI Partners and Schroder Adveq. The proceeds will be used to nominate a clinical candidate and advance Araris’ lead program into preclinical and clinical development. The new funds will also support the development of a broad proprietary pipeline of ADC compounds.

A total of 88 venture capital transactions were conducted in Poland between July and September 2020, with 80 funds involved, according to a new report from PFR Ventures. The deals provided innovative Polish companies with EUR156 million.
Of the EUR156 million total, EUR73 million was secured by Polish and Finnish company ICEYE in a Series C funding round.
As much as 45 per cent of the funds invested in Q3 constituted public-private capital, and the share of international funds in the transactions was 65 per cent. At the same time, 71 out of 88 transactions were based on public-private capital. As
