Aquiline Capital Partners, a private equity firm that specialises in financial services and technology, has held a final close of its fourth fund, the Aquiline Financial Services Fund IV.
Founded in 2005, Aquiline Capital Partners is a private investment firm specialising in financial services and technology, which is based in New York and London and has USD5.3 billion in assets under management.
“Today’s dynamic market conditions are creating significant disruptions across financial services, technology and healthcare that we believe will present compelling investment opportunities for us,” said Jeff Greenberg, chairman and CEO of Aquiline.

Optimum Strategic Communications (Optimum), an international strategic healthcare communications firm, has published the results of its survey of European Venture Capital (VC) investors and the impact of Covid-19 on the healthcare sector. KKR and data centre entrepreneur Franek Sodzawiczny are forming Global Technical Realty, a new build-to-suit and roll-up acquisition data centre platform, to develop and operate data centres for large tech companies across Europe as the PE group sees continued demand for data.
KKR will make a USD1 billion equity commitment primarily from its third global infrastructure fund, which may be topped up with additional commitments over time. “The data centre market in Europe presents a unique opportunity to invest behind the secular trend of increased cloud services adoption and demand for data,” said Waldemar Szlezak, managing director of KKR.

Birmingham-based language technology firm, Learning Labs Limited, has secured a GBP500,000 investment to ramp up product development and establish itself in new markets. The investment round includes finance from some existing investors and GBP250,000 from the Midlands Engine Investment Fund (MEIF) Equity Finance Fund, managed by venture capital firm Midven.
Established in 2013 by Veejay Lingiah and Richard Allen, Learning Labs originally developed FlashSticks, a unique language learning system based on 3M’s Post-it Notes.
Sold in more than 500 WHSmith outlets nationwide at launch, the system was supported by Learning Lab’s interactive software platform, FlashAcademy.
FlashAcademy enables users to learn English from 45 different home languages.
MGG Investment Group (MGG), a private direct lending investment firm, has appointed Eran Cohen, former Managing Director on the loan originations team at Wells Fargo Capital Finance, as a Managing Director. Cohen is based in Chicago and reports to Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer Kevin Griffin.

The Riverside Company, a global private equity firm focused on the smaller end of the middle market, has signed a definitive agreement to sell ActivStyle, a distributor of consumable medical supplies with an emphasis on incontinence products, to AdaptHealth Corp. The proposed transaction is expected to close in June 2020, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.
