Birmingham-based language technology firm, Learning Labs Limited, has secured a GBP500,000 investment to ramp up product development and establish itself in new markets. The investment round includes finance from some existing investors and GBP250,000 from the Midlands Engine Investment Fund (MEIF) Equity Finance Fund, managed by venture capital firm Midven.  Established in 2013 by Veejay Lingiah and Richard Allen, Learning Labs originally developed FlashSticks, a unique language learning system based on 3M’s Post-it Notes.  Sold in more than 500 WHSmith outlets nationwide at launch, the system was supported by Learning Lab’s interactive software platform, FlashAcademy. FlashAcademy enables users to learn English from 45 different home languages.
MGG Investment Group (MGG), a private direct lending investment firm, has appointed Eran Cohen, former Managing Director on the loan originations team at Wells Fargo Capital Finance, as a Managing Director. Cohen is based in Chicago and reports to Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer Kevin Griffin.   Cohen has nearly 30 years of credit transaction experience, including originating loans across the capital structure to middle market businesses throughout market cycles for private equity firms, large corporations, turnarounds, and distressed companies. The Riverside Company, a global private equity firm focused on the smaller end of the middle market, has signed a definitive agreement to sell ActivStyle, a distributor of consumable medical supplies with an emphasis on incontinence products, to AdaptHealth Corp.  The proposed transaction is expected to close in June 2020, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.
