Schroders has hired Peter Arnold, a senior private assets distribution head to drive the firm’s sales effort in this key asset class and better meet the specialist needs of investors globally.
Arnold will lead Schroders’ Alternative Sales Unit, which was established last year and focuses on the distribution of Schroders’ Private Assets investment offering.
He will report into John Troiano, Schroders’ Global Head of Distribution, and Georg Wunderlin, Schroders new Global Head of Private Assets, who joined the firm earlier this month.

Davidson, Hardy and Chung have been instrumental in driving transactions for Dunedin and creating value across its portfolio. They have each made notable contributions to Dunedin’s investments in paytech pioneer, Global Processing Services (GPS); digital technology specialist, Incremental; and forensic consultancy, Forensic Risk Alliance (FRA); as well as to its exit from Alpha Financial Markets, which successfully floated on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange in October 2017. Apposite Capital, a healthcare-focused, private equity investor, has appointed James Harper as Finance Manager and promoted Alex Cunynghame to Investment Manager.
Harper joined Apposite Capital from the Coller Capital finance team, where he was responsible for fund accounting, investment monitoring, treasury management and foreign exchange risk management. Prior to that, he worked for the public sector audit team at KPMG. James has a masters degree in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University as well as being ACA qualified.

An affiliate of Versa Capital Management (Versa) has acquired Alex Apparel Group (Alex Apparel), a designer and wholesaler of social dresses and separates under the Alex Evenings, SL Fashions and Ignite Evenings brands, from Atlantic Street Capital.
The Alex Apparel Group brands are sold both online and in over 3,400 retail locations, including major department stores, specialty store chains and boutiques and pure-play ecommerce sites.

Israeli startup TriEye, whose innovative Short-Wave-Infra-Red (SWIR) sensing technology is able to see in adverse weather and night-time conditions, has closed a USD17 million Series A funding round, led by Intel Capital.
Other investors include Marius Nacht, co-founder of Check Point Software Technologies, and TriEye’s existing investor Grove Ventures, headed by TriEye chairman Dov Moran, the inventor of the USB flash drive and co-founder of M-Systems. Since inception, TriEye has raised over USD20 million, including a seed investment of USD3M led by Grove Ventures in November 2017.

Pilot Growth Management, a technology-focused growth equity firm, has announced the full deployment and final closing of Pilot Growth Equity Fund II (PGE II).
The total amount of new capital in PGE II is USD45 million. Pilot Growth received repeat commitments from institutional anchor limited partners in the first fund and attracted interest from many family offices.
Pilot Growth, which manages over USD200 million of growth stage capital including exits, counts several category-leading software companies among those in its portfolio, including CB Insights, r4 Technologies, Bizzabo and Tailwind.

Hampleton Partners’ latest analysis of the Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) M&A global market reveals that this nascent sector is already showing signs of maturity, with later-stage funding, valuations and transaction volumes on the up and gaining momentum.
M&A transaction volumes increased from a total of only 11 in 2014 to a total of 26 in 2018. North America is poised to establish a leading position in AR/VR M&A, as it is home to 62 per cent of all targets and to 60 per cent of buyers involved in an M&A transaction.

Retail investors are increasingly drawn to private markets, attracted by the offer of diversification, alternative income, and sustainable investment opportunities, according to the latest issue of The Cerulli Edge – European Monthly Product Trends Edition.
“The alternative investments that retail investors are expanding into include hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, and private debt,” says Fabrizio Zumbo, associate director, European asset management research at Cerulli Associates, a global research and consulting firm.
One of the main reasons for the attraction to private markets is the hunt for returns that are relatively uncorrelated to mainstream asset classes such as equities and bonds.
FactSet, a provider of integrated financial information, analytical applications and services, has appointed Franck Gossieaux as Executive Vice President, Global Head of Sales and Client Solutions.
In this role, Gossieaux will be responsible for overseeing all global sales and client activities for FactSet.
Gossieaux joined FactSet in 2004 as part of its acquisition of JCF Group and has since held multiple senior leadership roles at the Company in both Europe and North America, including leading the EMEA and Americas sales teams. He has been instrumental in expanding FactSet across key markets and has global experience covering enterprise-level client relationships.
