Belfast-based health tech company, Neurovalens, has secured one of the largest ever Series A investments generated by a Northern Irish technology company.  The company specialises in using neuroscience to solve everyday health issues. The GBP4.6 million raise was led by London-based Wharton Asset Management along with Cambridge based IQ Capital. Hampleton Partners, an international mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance advisory firm for technology companies, has advised 2getthere Holding, a manufacturer of driverless electric shuttles, on its majority acquisition by ZF Friedrichshafen. Themis, an Africa-focussed power company backed by Denham Capital, is partnering with Kingline Development Nigeria Limited (Kingline) to develop a 550MW natural gas-fired power plant in Ondo State, Nigeria. The Kingline Power Project is currently in its development stage with a target to proceed to financial close by Q2 2020, becoming fully operational in 2022. Omnes has announced a 15 per cent investor net IRR on its EUR134 million Capenergie 2 fund, which is focused on renewable energy and launched in 2010.  The value-add infrastructure fund ranks among the top performers in the sector in Europe; generating an investor net multiple of 2x.   Omnes is a pioneer in the energy transition sector, with the launch of its first fund in 2006 and EUR1.3 billion in assets under management in this field.   The purpose of the Capenergie funds is to invest in independent power producers across Europe, providing them with private equity growth capital.
Navy Capital, a New York-based asset manager focused on the global cannabis sector, has hired Chetan Gulati as a Partner and Head of Research.  Gulati brings nearly 20 years of experience to Navy’s team, having begun his career practicing law at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen and Katz where he focused on corporate restructurings and finance. He then joined Perry Capital in 2007, and was ultimately appointed to run Perry’s London operations from 2010-2016. Most recently, Gulati was a Partner at Smith Cove Capital. Aquila Capital has acquired a portfolio of project rights for renewable energy projects in Spain with a total capacity of more than 700 MW.  It consists of over 400 MW of onshore wind projects and around 300 MW of solar projects, construction of which is expected to commence by the end of 2019 with grid connection expected by 2021.
