Vance Street Capital, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm, has acquired Applied Plastics (Applied), an advanced coatings provider to the medical end markets. This is Vance Street’s sixth investment out of Vance Street Capital II, and its fourth investment in the medical space in the past three years. Apex Group (Apex) and Genstar Capital (Genstar) have acquired the Corporate and Private Client Services (CPCS) and Throgmorton businesses of Link Group’s Asset Services division. The acquisition increases Apex’s global assets under administration (AUA) to nearly USD600 billion.   The acquisition substantially bolsters Apex’s corporate services capabilities adding specialist hubs in the UK, Jersey, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Hungary and Switzerland. In addition, the businesses have an established and robust service infrastructure, administering and safeguarding assets across seven highly-regulated European jurisdictions. James Capital Advisors (JCA) has successfully closed the High Plains Pizza transaction of 82 Pizza Hut restaurants.  Grand Mere Restaurant Group (GMRG) a New York-based private equity firm, engaged JCA to market 31 properties as a portfolio sale-leaseback. GMRG also engaged JCA to source a structured financing program for the remaining 17 real estate assets. In total JCA provided over USD60 million in sale-leaseback and structured financing proceeds for GMRG.   “James Capital played an integral part in structuring our capital stack and executing a real estate strategy that maximised value for our company. I consider the James Capital team an essential part of our M&A strategy moving forward,”
Employee benefits and pensions consultants and independent trustee business Broadstone Group, a portfolio company of private equity firm Livingbridge, has acquired Liverpool-based CS Financial Solutions (CSFS), including CS Trustees. The acquisition is another significant step for Broadstone as it strengthens and extends its competitive offering in the employee benefits consulting sector.   CSFS, a specialist employee benefits consultancy, will become a fully integrated part of the Broadstone Group and will help serve the combined group’s burgeoning client base across the UK and internationally, through the Assurex Global network. Private equity firm Permira is to make an investment in Hana, in partnership with the founders and the management, who will substantially re-invest in the company. The transaction sees TA Associates, which was the first institutional investor in Hana, exit its investment. Founded in 2012 by Laurent Boukobza and Jacques Attal, Hana is a global provider of freshly prepared sushi “on the go” through its 900 points of sale in grocery retailers across 12 markets. Its core geographies are the United States and France. In addition, Hana operates in the UK, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Czech Republic, Romania and Luxembourg.

The company was purchased by Hudson River Foods.
