The most obvious is the fact fund managers are more aware of the pitfalls of the past and are keen to avoid getting their fingers burned again. The structure of private equity funds means money from investors is generally locked in for 10 years. This gives fund managers a bit of breathing space to think strategically about how to manage the acquired asset and examine economic cycles.

SANNE, a provider of alternative asset and corporate services, has opened a new office in Tokyo, Japan. The company has also made the key appointment of Mark Bennett as Country Head of its Japanese business.
The opening of this new office expands SANNE’s already strong network of offices across the Asia-Pacific region and adds further capability and scope to the services SANNE can offer its clients. SANNE first established a presence in Asia in 2010 when it opened offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong, further opening a Singapore office in 2014.

Vectis, a private equity firm long active in Nigeria, has concluded a restructuring investment transaction of USD12 million into Leventis Foods Ltd, an established Nigerian FMCG manufacturing company with leading brands of bread and snacks.
The transaction is pending regulatory approvals. Upon completion Vectis will control a majority stake and AGL will maintain minority.
