Tosca Debt Capital (TDC), the UK’s only regionally-based and SME-focused debt fund, has appointed a new Assistant Portfolio Director, bringing the Manchester-based lender’s total headcount to 10.
Polly Tames joins the team at TDC from Bench, having spent 13 years with the British streetwear brand. In her new role, Polly will work with TDC’s Portfolio Director, Victoria Daly, in managing its growing investment portfolio.
TDC’s latest appointment lays the foundation for continued deal making in regional markets, with a particular focus on unlocking the potential of SMEs within the Northern Powerhouse.

Nexxus Iberia’s Nexxus Iberia Private Equity Fund I has completed its second investment with the acquisition of a minority stake, in conjunction with Capzanine, Dorsia, Eva and Origen, a franchise business operating in women’s health in Spain.
The consortium made of Capzanine and Nexxus Iberia will provide financial and strategic support to the founders, Manuel and Jorge Fernandez, who will remain the majority shareholders of the group and will continue to manage the business. The Group operates three brands being Dorsia (aesthetic surgery and medicine treatments), Eva Fertility (assisted reproduction and fertility services in Spain), and Origen (mental health therapies).
Big Issue Invest has appointed Danyal Sattar as its new Chief Executive Officer. Sattar joins the social investment arm of The Big Issue from The Joseph Rowntree Foundation, where he held the role of Head of Social Investment.
In his time at The Joseph Rowntree Foundation, Danyal cemented a reputation as one of the most respected leaders in the impact investment sector. The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association has added to its Board of Directors with the appointment of Anthony Cowell, Head of Asset Management for KPMG in the Cayman Islands.

High Street Capital appoints Chris Brewster as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

eQ Asset Management has raised a company-record EUR175 million for its latest Northern European private equity fund eQ PE X North at final closing on 6 September 2018. A final closing was also held on the same date for eQ’s second secondary fund eQ PE SF II with EUR135 million of committed capital. Both funds first closings were held in January 2018.
eQ PE X North is a fund of funds investing in private equity funds targeting Northern European small and mid-sized unlisted companies. The fund will consist of approximately ten underlying funds through which investments will be widely diversified
European institutional allocators continue to invest in alternative investments in heavy numbers, according to the latest Context Allocator Trends Report produced by Context Capital Partners.
The latest study showed that 72 per cent of European investors are optimistic about the future of the alternative asset management industry, with more than half (60 per cent) planning to increase their net positions in alternative investments by the end of 2018. This mirrors survey results from Context Summits Miami 2018 earlier in the year, which showed 83 per cent of US-based allocators were optimistic about the industry and nearly 70 per cent planned
African investment bank Imara Corporate Finance and London-based financial advisory firm Spayne Lindsay have formed a strategic alliance.
