Noerr has advised DBAG Expansion Capital Fund, which is advised by Deutsche Beteiligungs AG (DBAG), on its investment in the operative business of BTV braun teleCom AG (BTV). BTV group is a well-known provider of equipment and services for broadband communication.
By way of a management buy-out, DBAG Expansion Capital Fund has acquired the majority shareholding in four operating companies of BTV group. Seller is the company founder and shareholder Thomas Braun, who has sold the shares as part of succession arrangements and will continue to be in charge of managing the company. Finn O’Driscoll is to step down as chief executive of private equity-backed soft drinks manufacturer Clearly Drinks, following a period of exceptional growth at the Sunderland-based business.
Since joining the company in February 2016, Finn has overseen considerable expansion for Clearly Drinks. Bolstered by the signing of numerous major contracts with high street retailers and supermarkets, the company has seen double-digit turnover growth in each of the last two years, with the business now producing in excess of 85 million bottles per year.
Finn was also integral in helping the business secure investment from private equity house NorthEdge Capital
Sverica Capital Management has acquired a majority interest in Gener8. The investment marks Sverica’s sixth investment from its fourth fund.
Based in Sunnyvale, CA, Gener8 designs and manufactures life science instrumentation, complex clinical devices as well as advanced industrial systems, leveraging expertise in microfluidics, optics, electronics and embedded systems. The Nigerian Agricultural Bank, Bank of Agriculture and the African electricity supplier Daystar Power have entered into a comprehensive cooperation to provide rural electrification in Nigeria.
The cooperation includes the supply of solar power to the bank branches as well as a concept for the supply of electricity to rural areas of the country. Since 1972, the Bank of Agriculture has been Nigeria’s leading financial institution committed to rural development. Daystar Power is a founding partner of the Africa Venture Builder Sunray Ventures.

The majority of family offices are investing in private equity but are overlooking opportunities in smaller deals (under USD100 million in Enterprise Value) and in markets outside the United States, according to a new survey from Schroder Adveq.
Conducted among family office and private wealth professionals at the Opal Family Office and Private Wealth Conference in Newport, Rhode Island, the survey found that approximately 70 per cent of respondents are invested in private equity, but only one third of those investors (circa 35 per cent) had private equity investments allocated to funds focused on small buyouts.

SDC Capital Partners (SDC), a specialised private equity firm focused on the IT and communications infrastructure sectors, has held the final close of its inaugural fund, SDC Digital Infrastructure Opportunity Fund I, at its hard cap of USD400 million.
The Fund was oversubscribed and materially exceeded its original USD300 million target.
The Fund will seek to leverage SDC’s deep sector-specific experience to make value-add investments across the digital infrastructure sector. SDC has already made three investments from the Fund, most recently through the acquisition of a 280-acre data centre development site in Loudoun County, Virginia.
